4* reception downstairs, bed comfortable but felt room 3* and a little tired. Appreciate you can’t always refurbish all rooms at once.
Bedroom dim as only a small window with outlook of a wall. Upon arrival, Reception should make it clear you need to open a “tab” for any beverages or food. Even as a registered guest, staff will not let you add to your room & settle when checking out. Bar manager, Vanessa, lacks customer facing skills and shouldn’t be disparaging towards paying guests.
Nice location and lobby area comfortable and well presented, excellent breakfast but room was a bit of a let down. The bathroom had a very unpleasant odour and room carpet was stained, al furniture was very tired and in need of refurbishment.
A brilliant hotel.
Very comfortable, clean room. Very good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Superb location for York with a bus stop outside the hotel. Lovely grounds.
We wanted to sit outside in the evenings as the weather was good. However, because of the smokers just outside the main entrance, we were put off and didn't feel it was conducive to sitting relaxing with a drink when cigarette smoke was drifting our way. Perhaps a smoking area could be a dedicated space away from the entrance?
We got married at the Mercure York Fairfield Manor on Saturday and honestly, we cannot recommend it enough. Our coordinator, Beth, was amazing from start to finish. All the staff have been fantastic, nothing is too much to ask. The food (canapés, wedding breakfast, bar meals and restaurant menu) was all amazing. We had the bridal suite which was lovely too. The hotel is really beautiful and the grounds make for amazing wedding photos. We can’t wait to visit again, but would highly recommend here for those seeking a hotel, or for a wedding! Thank you everyone. You made our day just perfect!

Location
The room was way too hot to sleep comfortably, no Aircon, totally outdated. The bath filled with water when showering. I made a mistake with booking 2 nights instead of 1, the staff handballed the issue, booked through a third party, not our problem!!
Stayed here many times. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel is nicely decorated and the breakfast hot and plentiful. We stayed on one of the warmest days and thankfully a fan was in the room. Staff are very helpful. Ideal for the park and ride and plenty of parking spaces on site.
Nothing to dislike
Breakfast was good
Loved size of room and amazing lounge and friendly staff 👌
Some things need upgrading bath plug didn't work so had to use spoon to empty bath as it locked in close position. Bed was bit hard for me but couldn't fix with a topper .

Polite professional staff.
We were in a heatwave, the Room was too hot, it was at the top floor, a fan is provided but because safe shallow opening windows, could not bring the temperature down enough to be comfortable.
This type of room would be excellent if we had normal cool british weather. (21 Degrees for example)
Outside Temperature was around 28 Degrees C at the time.
Very nice hotel, large with beautiful grounds, the staff were very nice and pleasant and the food in the restaurant was delicious
I think the room was overpriced, very spacious but could do with a revamp. Our view wasn’t the greatest as we were in an attic truss type room, the window was literally facing a led flashing roof that was then blocked by a brick wall. I ordered flowers and wine for our stay but they weren’t there on arrival which spoiled a little touch I was expecting for my partner, it was soon put right once I spoke to reception but would of been nice if they were there for when we entered the room, especially as I’d rang 2-3 times that day making sure they would be there
