Good location, friendly staff
Nothing to dislike
Easy to find, plenty of parking, great location. Real cleanm friendly greeting. All in all a good budget hotel.
It was easy to find.
The rooms are really tired. There was mould on the walls around the windows, I was woken by water dripping from the air con unit onto the bedside table. The bathroom needed a good clean, black mould around tiles and the shower had mould around it.
I didn’t like that there was no lift. The room was fine but too hot. Breakfast was ok, dinner was decent too.
Disabled parking
No choice of Gluten free food.
No fridge in room.
Location
No lift
Beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful
The original room we were given smelt so bad, it was like a mixture of burnt plastic, cigarette smoke and body odour. Tried opening the window to see if it helps and didn’t make a difference, we asked for a different room which the staff were happy to accommodate but it wasn’t cleaned properly there was marks on the toilet and bath. Toiletries had to be provided upon request and there was no tissue box in the room. The hotel doesn’t have a lift and it’s incredibly dated and run down. Definitely not a 4 star by any means. The staff however were helpful and friendly so couldn’t fault them but overall, not the best experience.
Central to UEA for graduation. Bed was very comfortable air con worked well, shower was really good. Breakfast was really nice!!!
Can’t think of anything we didn’t like or can fault.
Very welcoming, all rooms were ready for early check in
Nothing
Stayed as I was attending a workshop in the hotel. Comfortable bed. Good parking. Staff very pleasant.
Rather dated. Carpets worn in places. But ok for one night.
No outside space
good size room, very comfortable bed and air conditioning was wonderful. Friendly and helpful staff
Had to move tv to access aircon switch (on and off power switch on wall only). Remote would have been better as we needed to turn it off in the night.
Trouble with room card. First attempt wouldn't work any way round. Had to go back down stairs to reception to get it sorted and the communal areas were very hot so it was annoying. When we returned at night-time we had the same issue (although we may not have tried it both ways that time to be fair, as we were tired). After returning to reception to get it sorted a member of staff followed us back up and showed us a tiny arrow on the card, which we would never have noticed. A larger arrow would be helpful.
Noisy staff woke us up at 4am sorting out a room and talking very loudly!
It’s location
There was no lift, partner has mobility issues and had to walk up flights of stairs
Loved the room and Close to pub
Room really needs a revamp as looks dated
Arrived at the hotel, was warmly greeted by the reception staff (Catherine). They explained about all of the amenities and restraunt timings.
The room was clean and tidy, and the big bonus was the A/C that was in the room, as the weather was hit.
We had a lovely two-night stay at the Mercure Norwich Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, making us feel well looked after throughout our stay.
Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of hot and cold options, and the hotel was in a convenient location with plenty of parking. Overall, it offered great value for money, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you to the whole team for making our visit so enjoyable! Kathrine behind the reception was really lovely and helpfull.
Quite convenient for getting around Norwich without going into the centre. Handy for visiting places to north and west, and the airport.
Poor situation at entrance to a commercial estate.
Dropped food on carpet in restaurant when we arrived. We informed waitress immediately. Dropped food ( a breakfast sausage) was still there by Table 28 when we had our final breakfast three days later, together with bits of pastry from a previous day's breakfast left on the carpet in clear view.
The staircase leading to the first floor were not kept clean. The same dirt was left on them for at least a couple of days.
There was no toilet brush in the bathroom, and the double toilet roll holder was inexplicably mounted below knee height, adjacent to the wc, instead of at the side, higher up.
The metal wall-mounted lamps over the bed were far too too low, and we both banged our heads on them when sitting up in bed.
The food available in the Brasserie was disappointing. Luckily we found a great pub in nearby Eaton, which served really good food, so we had our evening meal there three times during our four night stay.
Staff very friendly
Hotel old and dilapidated. Carpets, furniture, everything in the rooms is knackered. In complete need of an overhaul.
