We had to change room as the one we had booked had a smoking smell. However, the staff changed us immediately with no fuss.
Breakfast was disappointing. Not much there and there was confusion about the prices. Staff were not particularly helpful.
The rooms were good however our experience in the restaurant for dinner was poor. It was the complete opposite of how they promoted and communicated to me. My partner and I didn’t eat our meal. Simply put I could of prepared a better meal. Unfortunately what they promoted and what we got was the complete opposite.

Close to town centre. Location of room peaceful.
Didn’t find reception staff particularly welcoming. Bedroom had insufficient coat hanging space, no shelving for jumpers etc and only one bedside table. On Day 2, no housekeeping was done or tea/coffee making facilities replenished until 3.00 pm.
Close to the city and easy to walk.
Lovely comfortable bed and nicely decorated.

Breakfast was ok. Cooked food had to be ordered from the menu which is fine but not a large choice and it was average (I had full English one day and smashed avocado the next). Pancakes were an extra cost (£2.50). Also not a large choice of cold food at the buffet

Stanza bella e larga. Posizione OK, si arriva a piedi in città anche se c'è da camminare un pochino. Molto vicino all'ippodromo.
La nostra stanza non era nell'edificio principale ma di fronte.
Ultimo piano senza ascensore, non comodo coi bagagli.
Parcheggio solo a pagamento, ma il weekend o se la lasci solo la notte, in strada è gratis.
Ovviamente no aria condizionata e no bidet (nonostante un bagno enorme e mezzo vuoto), ma sarebbe una sorpresa il contrario.
Un po' caro, ma probabile perché era periodo di corse all'ippodromo.
We loved the size of our bedroom and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, lovely walk in shower.
We would have liked to open a window in the bedroom for fresh air during the night but they were all sealed.
I love this place, stay every year for the York Book Fair - it is quiet, comfortable and quite beautiful.
I used to like having a cheeseboard in the bar - food options have changed now.
Room was very dark and dated . Unexpectedly the room was rather small . £30 for our dog who was supposed to get a pet bed and treats but got nine of these . Mentioned to staff on checkout and the £30 was removed from our bill
Value for money
£15 for breakfast that wasn’t worth it . I have paid £20 at other hotels and had a better breakfast
