Bed was comfortable, room was a good size.
Swimming was only available during 2, 1 hour periods for kids.
I requested a dinner reservation which wasn’t logged. I was then told it was fully booked until 8. When I arrived the restaurant was empty. Waiting a while before receiving a menu, and never got a drinks menu. Food was very poor for the price paid.
Room was good size, bed was comfy but the bathroom tiling had a very poor finish with holes. TV was also old and did not have smart tv capabilities.
The spa and gym
Bed was broken.. the main door of the room kept jamming.. hair drier was broke so had to ask for another one.. same with the fan.. and breakfast was below average
Location, room size. Nice patio area and gardens near the bar.
No plug for bath so no soak in bath. Threadbare arms on chairs in the room.
The hot breakfast was not hot but warm. A little tired internally.
Friendly staff.
The hotel is in a nice setting.
The breakfast was good, I went down at around 8:30 and they were running low on somethings such as scrambled eggs and mushrooms however the that was there was well cooked.
Room soundproofing wasn't great. When we arrived we could hear the guest in the next room on a phone call. Thankfully it didn't go on all night.
The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren and the signage for rooms could be better as it's quite easy to miss the relevant corridor or turning.
Lovely big room, but unfortunately could hear conversations from neighbouring rooms. Maybe they were just very loud people. The staff were great but there seemed to be very few of them. This hotel is very nice, which I wasn't expecting for the price and the contact in the run up being very poor - who does your online/web/ emails? They need to overhaul your online presence. Your information emails still refer to track and trace and some garbled instructions in various fonts and formats that make very little sense. When did anyone last read through them?
Your advance check in doesn't work but when I replied to tell you that you just resent it. All this lowered my expectations, and yet, when I arrived it was a very pleasant stay in a lovely hotel. A bit tired in places, needs a bit more ongoing maintenance (silicone, paint scuffs etc) but in general I was pleasantly surprised with the place. Pool is lovely, very clean. All in all excellent value for money.
See above.
We had such a wonderful stay and are genuinely so grateful for the experience. The breakfast was tasty, and it was a lovely touch that they happily made poached eggs on request. The rest of the breakfast was a classic English spread, and the hot chocolate machine was a cosy bonus. The staff were incredibly caring and sweet, even when we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room — they handled everything with so much kindness. The bedrooms were massive, beautifully decorated, and had plenty of space for clothes and everything else we brought. The grounds were absolutely stunning and the exteriorwe so beautiful .We would 100% return, and we’re so thankful for the great time we had.
We went to look at the spa when we arrived and as noone was at the reception we took 3 dressing gowns so we could go upstairs unpack and pop down to use it and back to room to shower and change. Upon checkout we were CHARGED £15 EACH for the 3 robes despite handing them back to prove we hadnt stolen them (!) and despite having paid for a luxury suite and separate room for our son. Usually gowns are in rooms or if not there was no mention we'd be charged £15 to use them for 3mins each?!!! Unheard of from all the places we have stayed....
Breakast - no yoghurt alongside the fruit so for protein there was no option but to go fried hot food. That was dissappointing but what was worse was the toast machine that squealed sounded like nails pulling down a chalk board everytime it rotated... upon mentioning this we were told they couldnt turn it off and would get the maintainance man to look at it after service which was too late for everyone in the room at the time... why this was fixed first thing am not sure - it was painful so we left after 5minutes.... again disapointing when we had paid for 3 breakfasts...
Handy for a meet up with an old friend.
Staff very helpful
The garden was lovely
I was at the very top of the hotel with lots of stairs. No lift available but the reception manager did offer to help take them up.
There were no windows in the room other than a velux. There was a small fan provided but the room was still stuffy and airless. If l stay again, l will ask for a room on a lower floor and with a window.
I had pre-booked a meal voucher for £50. They forgot to take it into account and l was overcharged. It was a faff to sort it out but the reception manager (who was very helpful) eventually did. I have to wait a week for a refund now.
The breakfast was additional and was overpriced for what it was
Spa was great, bed very comfortable.
Cleanliness in room wasn't amazing. Layout also was a bit annoying , no mirror and plug by desk to sit and do hair and makeup, I tried calling reception to ask for a vanity mirror but engaged . Only one chair on balcony.
Very sparse on staff but Steve was amazing. He gave a really great service. He was attentive, kind and extremely funny. He was the best thing about this hotel
Had a wonderfully relaxing overnight stay and spa... staff friendly.. room pleasant food lovely... enjoyed spa facilities... had a rejuvenating massage from Lindsay... who was very professional... highly recommend...
Breakfast, the size of the bedroom and location. It was very quiet in the evenings and that was great.
Felt dated, especially not having a smart TV. No air conditioning, which is understandable in an old manor and the blinds in the bedrooms did not work.
Friendly staff, good quality rooms and good size
The throw on the bed had a dried substance on it which wasn't too pleasant
Over half of the lockers in the male changing rooms for the pool could not be secured due to faulty locks
Id recommend getting rid of the plastic cups in the pool area and just having a drinking fountain seeing as people can't clean up after themselves
