The hotel in general is in a nice location and clean. Staff is professional.
There shower gel in men SPA showers were depleted, thankfully I had my own in gym bag. My highest dissapointment was the bed, before I made my online booking it was showing double bed or twin beds. I rang the hotel to ask about this and I was assured that it will be double bed. Made my booking after, even wrote a comment that I want a double bed in my online check in. Checked in hotel and left my belongings there, went out to Chester. When I returned back to hotel and went to sleep I realised that the "double bed" splits in half and I ended up in the middle between the two mattresses. I was dissapointed as I fully trusted the staff in regards the booking and it was late in the evening and I was too tired to try to swap rooms. My dissapointment and rating is purely based on the bed situation, I didn't get too much sleep, everything else was lovely and great.
Destination
The cleanliness, plates and cups and food left in the corridors, barely any lights in the room so dark and cold. No bar open shut for a function. No robe or flip flops included for the spa.
Great stay. Very impressive building and facilities, comfy bed, good breakfast. The gentleman working on reception was lovely and very accommodating. Helped us to our room with our bags and baby.
Hotel is a little dated and needs a decorator/patch up in parts but this is expected with an old building! Well worth what you pay for.
Room size and breakfast
Staff didn’t know what was going on, we paid for robes and sippers for the spa, they had no record of the booking, eventually got them and then found out they are free if you use the spa so paid for nothing but small tatty robes. The bed was awful, one side the mattress had collapsed springs digging in you when mentioned to the maid and reception nothing was done just said it’s a big bed very disappointed in the staff, when on check out I mentioned the issues and the staff member said”on that’s great glad you had a good stay”
