Nice room let down by the run down spa facilities.
Pros:

Spacious room which was clean with onsuite shower room. Quite location. Nice full English breakfast and other breakfast options (all self serve)

Cons:

Room had ceiling windows that were very high and wouldn't be easily closed unless getting on the couch. No ironing board although there was an iron! Kettle had a broken power switch which is dangerous. Spa pool area with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna is very small and only had approx 6 loungers (all taken by possible local resident users). Mens changing room was dreadful with broken lockers (not safe if sticking your wallet/car keys in it!) and non-flushing toilet.

Excellent, just needs some TLC in certain areas
Pros:

The character of the hotel buildings, kind attentive staff, great breakfast and it was lovely to be able to have a nice swim first thing in the morning

Cons:

Decor needs some TLC. Out room was lovely, but in the breakfast room area and corridors new carpet and a professional repainting is required.
Had these things not required attention we would have been happy to give this hotel 10 out of 10.

Nice for relaxing getaway
Pros:

It’s a traditional looking property set in nice grounds. I did think the grounds would be bigger but they are nice, relaxing and well kept.
Inside it’s a lovely building, general wear and tear as to be expected.
Relaxed feeling about the hotel- ALL staff very pleasant and polite.

Cons:

No fans or air con in the rooms.
Unfortunately had an invasion of flying ants in my room and bathroom (windows had been kept closed- maybe came in through the vents on windows?)- staff very promptly moved me to an even bigger and more luxurious room- of course, no extra charge. Thank you!
The bar menu very expensive for what it was, food isn’t really as described, for example; Parmesan was with the meal but was grated cheddar. Sherry trifle looked like overnight oats, no jelly, no custard and no sherry.
Not enough seating around the pool
Spa changing rooms small and lockers not working
Think operates on a very small scale of staff but all helpful and friendly.

Pros:

Pool available although alocated times for children, great location, beautiful garden, great size room.

Cons:

Food was quite pricey, rooms need updating, mold on bathroom seals, could do with more of a clean during turnover.

Pleasant, unlikely to return.
Pros:

Lovely setting. Lovely breakfast.

Cons:

Asked for twin room and put in room with sofa bed instead of second bed.
No much seating around the pool, and loungers there were plastic/uncomfortable. Many of the lockers didn’t work in the changing rooms and I was unable to open my locker as buttons not working, I needed to go to reception (spa) and ask someone to open locker - no staff available at spa desk for 5mins so stood waiting.

Stuck in a time warp, reminded us of Fawlty Towers
Pros:

Great location for a visit to Chester Zoo

Cons:

Needs upgrading, there were thing missing from the room, toilet paper hairdryer fan
Restaurant was closed the bar menu had things missing off it. Breakfast choice wasn’t great Looks lovely but didn’t live up to its promise and the fact that it was fairly expensive, we expected more but got a Travel Lodge experience

Fine for a short stay, and conveniently near the crematorium, where we went the next morning
Pros:

We didn't use the spa. Our room was comfortable and quiet. I had actually asked for twin beds, but the room contained just one very large king bed - for the one night that was okay, but if we had been staying longer I would have pressed for twin beds, as originally requested.

Cons:

We thought the evening meal we had was fine, but not in any way exceptional.

Pros:

The room, breakfast and spa, pool and gym were very good. The reception, restaurant and spa staff were great, very helpful.

Cons:

*I thought the feeling of £20 per night charge for our small dog was too much.
*We decided to have a drink in the bar on Sun 5th July...the barman was clearly drunk serving us, he was swearing. Then when we sat in the lounge area to relax...he kept bothering us and pestering our nervous dog, making her bark. We ended up leaving with our drinks and go to our room as we felt uncomfortable. We did report incident to reception staff. Apart from that incident our stay was good.
