Recently stayed 8 nights at the Grand Chancellor with the wife. As we have stayed here many times before this has to be the one to forget. Arrival and check in was probably the best part. Management should of informed us what was happening during our stay in advance before we booked our stay. We were not informed of all the room locks being changed on a certain day plus power outage that knocked out the lights, power and the their WiFi servers. This was intermittent and proved to be a great pain in the you know what. We went for a morning walk and couldn't even get back in the front door of the Hotel when we returned (no signage as to why). Then for a few days they worked on the ceiling around the main meeting place in the Atrium Bar. We had to move 3 times because of the contractors moving around in this area. The waiter was apologetic and gave us a packet of chips and nobbys nuts for our troubles the were out of date AUG 2026 so you can guess how old the nuts must of been (binned them). We had breakfast in the Buffet two times and on the second while the plates and glasses were stacking up on our table I looked across at the staff having a morning chat I take it. With 4 plates and a couple of glasses accumulating on our table I though this was a bit ordinary to say the least. Could say a lot more about our stay but these are the main areas of concern. While the bar staff and check in staff were great, blame should fall directly on management for failing to notify us firstly and at least let the staff know what is going on within the hotel. It all made for a stay that will be remembered for the wrong reasons.
The hotel’s position is perfect, the rooms we had were spotless and spacious.
Everything worked well and what a view.
Location and friendly staff.
No view in our room but still ok.
Location and view were great.
Breakfast and the fact that the rooms did not have a shower head.
Great location. Very clean. The foyer bar on ground level overlooking the wharf was nice.
