Property does not require health documentation at check-in
on a golf trip, courses okay, not championship standard but okay, price for drinks and bar food very expensive ( captive audience) would i go back. No not value for money
Nothing completely gone down hill and is in no way a 4 star hotel.
Absolutely disgusting do not stay here. It is a 3-star property at an absolute push. A "superior room" here should be priced at £65 per night, not the £120 I paid.
The issues started at check-in. I asked if I could pay to upgrade to a nicer room and was flatly lied to and told I already had the best room they had. After a half-mile walk to the first floor, I opened the door to a basic, neglected room. There were black pipe marks all up the wall by the radiator, multiple stains covering the lampshade, and a trash bin that was literally left coated in old milk down the side.
Worse yet, it was a conjoined family room with zero soundproofing. I could hear the group of ladies in the adjoining room so clearly that I couldn't get to sleep until past 1:00 AM.
When I went to reception to complain about the hygiene and being misled, I just got a shrug of the shoulders, lots of pointing at a screen, and a dismissive "sorry, we're fully booked." No compensation or gesture of goodwill was offered. Check-out was just as cold in no greeting, no one asking how the stay was.
The food is a total rip-off too; I paid £21 for a chicken burger at the golf bar that didn't even taste like chicken, only to be told the bar was closing at 9:00 PM during the World Cup.
I used to stay here when it was a Marriott, but the standards have completely plummeted. The place was rammed with conference guests, the golf course looks tired and run-down, and the management clearly doesn't care. Check the lowest reviews before booking there is a consistent pattern of awful service here. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting.
Friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
Evening Menu is limited.
Bed was rather hard but otherwise comfortable.
Wonderful location & setting. Friendly staff.
Felt quite tired and in need of a significant refurbishment pretty much everywhere.
Food ok but nothing special
Costly for what it is. If I’d known more about it before booking I would not have paid as much as I did to stay here. There are better value alternatives with better facilities and in better condition not too far away which charge about the same.
Room, location and the food
I was told that the golf facilities closed at 5:00 by the receptionist. I couldn't use the facilities I booked the hotel for... only to find out on check out it closed at 7:30! I wasn't best pleased.
It was awful loud noise people having sex above banging arguing the staff did nothing and my self my elderly grandma and daughter was awake all night!!!
The way it was dealt with
Location, large room, clean, very comfy, huge bed, large bathroom.
The flush in the loo was really weak.
Nice location.
Cost, the food prices were extortionate for mediocre food
The quality of the room was above my expectations. The Golf facilities were excellent, and I got to play with a member, who made me feel very welcome.
BREAKFAST
GOLF TOO EXPENSIVE AS AGUEST IN THE HOTEL
The range of leisure facilities was exellent - swimming pool, driving range and tennis courts, so perfect for a family stay.
Our room rate included Breakfast, which had an excellent varitey of options which kept us satisfied until a late lunch / early evening meal. We dined in the bar on one evening, and the food was delicious.
All in all we had a wonderful stay.
Our bedroom did not have any air conditioning which meant the room got quite warm and stuffy at night. A fan was supplied in the room, and we needed to use it and leave the windows open to keep us cool, which was ok for those in the bed, but the sofabed was next to the window and it was a little too cool there. Not a huge issue, and if we did not need to use the sofabed for our son, this would have been less of an issue.
We did not sleep. The room above were creamy loud and preceded with violent sexual activity from 1am through to when we checked out at 7am reception didn’t do much to help and wouldn’t offer us an alternative room . We had two children aged 12 in our room who heard everything we could physically did not sleep and left feeling very upset and unwell
