We had an amazing event at The Peninsula, Arlene, Lilly, Eunice, Jose, and the full banquet team were incredibly hospitable, flexible and accomodating of our every need. Food was amazing, service was at its best, and the meeting space + sleeping rooms were just perfect.
Tutto
Tutto soprattutto il Signor Felice, per la colazione, grazie per l'accoglienza 🔝
My wife and I had a delightful one night stay at the Peninsula New York. I recommend it without hesitation.
Our room was a Grand Premier Room on the 18th floor. Nicely sized for a single room, with a small 2 chair table for dining (or work) and a loveseat. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable, and both sides of the bed had amply sized nightstands.
Storage included a closet with loads of high end hangers, and a luggage area with four nicely sized drawers.
The bathroom was large (sadly, only one sink), with a separate tub and shower.
The whole room was very well lit (The Carlyle – take note). The HVAC worked perfectly and quietly. All the technology worked exactly as designed.
I understand the hotel just completed a renovation – it seems it was a great one. Well done.
On arrival, I noted to the bellman that I was slightly surprised that the room didn’t have a coffee maker. No worries, he said, I’ll get you one. And one indeed arrived (oddly, I’m told only the suites have a coffee maker as standard equipment). We made good use of it.
Every single staff member we met – doorman, valets, housekeeping, room service – was welcoming, and solicitous. Everyone was an exemplar of a very high standard of hospitality.
The Peninsula offers an extremely valuable “Pen Time” benefit for direct bookings. You tell them when you’re going to check in, and when you want to check out. We arrived at 4:30pm on day 1, and left at 7:00pm on the day 2. Extremely useful when you have a 11:55pm flight.
A couple cautions, present mainly because of the hotel’s location right on 5th Avenue at 55th. First, this is a busy area. You are in the thick of things from a commerce standpoint – but you need to go a piece to find the kind of neighborhood places that one often enjoys in NYC. Second, if you are scheduled to arrive or leave on the day there’s a parade on 5th Avenue, then you’ve got quite a hike to the hotel from 55th and 6th Avenue.
This was a great stay. I’ll be back.
Returned after a while. Renovated completely - at least rooms and the rooftop bar. Rooms are getting a nice uplift, both electronically and comfort, bathrooms as well, spacious and cosy. The pool at 22 and the spa were also vey nice and clean and very well appointed. Maybe they can start the sauna earlier than they did. The rooftop bar is awesome, both indoor and terrace. Amazing views, excellent lists and nice cold bar food. Breakfast is comprehensive and a bit pricey. I wouldn’t think coffee refills would be considered a new one…
Stayed at the Peninsula New York for a weekend visit at the end of January during a brutal cold snap. The hotel has recently done a redecoration of rooms. Our suite was very comfortable and well appointed. However, because of the sub-zero temperatures, it was a little tough going. There is no heat source in the bathroom which made bathing untenable until they brought up a space heater which had to run 24/7. At the end of the day, the building in which the hotel lives is very old. There is not a lot that can be done with a very old building to change the fact that it’s an old building. The extensive renovations required would likely involve a total gutting and interior redo which is unlikely. Staff and service was wonderful and world class.

To be honest, everything was perfect from the moment I checked in until I checked out. The room size was good, mattress was super comfy, room service was great and the Spa was amazing.
Definitely it won’t be the last time staying there and looking forward to visit it again.
