Could not recommend this hotel.
Pros:

The location.

Cons:

On line the Clayton looks good but in reality requires an overhaul, redecorating. The tiled wall in our en-suite was nothing short of disgusting, built up dirt from previous guests.
No top sheets on the beds just an awful heavy winter duvet 13.5 tog, come on it’s August.
Removed the duvet inner to use the cover only to find the duvet inner was disgustingly dirty, made me sick looking at it.
The room was far too hot the air conditioning inadequate, the windows do not open due to the configuration of the hotel, stain on both the carpet and wall, very noticeable.
The toilet facilities off reception faired no better, from age old paper bits around the skirting boards, a to a rather dirty baby change table, 🤢
the hand basin I had to clean before using.
We eat in the restaurant, the burger was just “processed meat” two tough burger patties, the waitress on asking how was our meals then dismissed my comments, said it’s the beef we use in Ireland.

2 night stay
Pros:

Weather was great

Cons:

We were positioned adjacent to the simon community facility so didnt get much sleep on both nghts due to the constant fighting and shouting , the hotel had a leak so the restaurant was closed so i cant comment on that , but the breakfast was missing loads of items on both morning with guests complaining on both days. Overall we felt itvwas very expensive for what we had , so i wont be back as there are other locations we will try and Cork is fantastic for food so we wont be lacking . Even when we left the consierge didnt ask how was our stay as i think he knew what reaction he would get.

Overall it was extremely expensive for what we got.

The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to restaurants, pubs and shops. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, especially the bathroom. The car park is so handy and a real bonus to staying in a city center hotel.
