Not knowing there was construction going on was very frustrating coming away for a weekend to relax only to hear loud noises for our 2 day stay.
Also not being given enough information when the host tried to change our rooms- we would have if she had mentioned the construction.

The breakfast was bad …. Was looking forward to it the most and went to use the hot pools and they were out

Great family friendly hotel with plenty of space in the lounge, dining and pool areas
Rooms are clean and neat but ours was very tired. Chipped paint, scuffed door frames, worn out bathroom in general.

Location
I've stayed at Rydges Rotorua several times over the years, but unfortunately the standard has declined with each visit. Sadly, this will be my last stay.
When we arrived, there were dirty cups left outside our room. Once inside, it was clear the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly. The floor was sticky, the shower head was greasy with hair still on it, and the chrome taps were dirty. It gave the impression that basic cleaning had been missed.
I reported this to reception, and to their credit they responded promptly. A young staff member came to the room with a cloth and spray bottle. He was polite, professional, and genuinely helpful, but I explained that a sticky floor needed more than a quick wipe. He also told me that the cleaners do not mop the floors, which was very disappointing to hear. He kindly offered us a room change, which we accepted.
The replacement room was larger, which we appreciated, but it was in the older wing near the pool. It was extremely noisy, with children running through the hallways and up and down the stairs. The hallways themselves were also noticeably dirty and in need of a thorough vacuum.
I want to acknowledge the excellent customer service from the young staff member who assisted us, as he did everything he could to help. However, the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and noise levels did not meet the standard I expect from Rydges. Based on this experience, I won't be staying here again.
Not a lot
Run down, dirty, changing room by pools smells, kids area looks like it hasn’t had a deep clean in forever. Our room wasn’t serviced at all.
Kids are free to stay. We love the swimming pool and the Family zone. Is in the Handy location close to town not that far away. The hotel next to one of the signature tourist attractions. If you like mountain biking this is definitely the place to stay. We are happy to stay here again.
The mattress was not as comfortable as we thought; but we’re happy with the room Service the cleaning Nurse of the hotel room as well as the friendly Staff.
Great facilities for the kids, they felt right at home and happy to walk around facilities by themselves.
