Very pleasant place to spend our night whilst up visiting relatives.
Pros:

There was nothing to dislike.
The room was clean and very comfortable with plenty of space.

The hotel is a comfortable stopover between London and Scotland, very professionally run.
Pros:

The hotel is a dignified historical building in a pleasant riverside setting, comfortably adapted to modern hotel standards. We appreciated the size and quietness of our room, the cleanliness and the provision of a good restaurant with an imaginative menu. It is conveniently placed for Selby Abbey, and within easy reach of the M18 and A1(M), suitable for an overnight stay on the road between London and Scotland.

Cons:

There is little in the immediate surrounds to make one want to stay around. The hotel itself does not have a lift for handling the luggage.

Pros:

The staff were very helpful I have trouble getting upstairs and they didn't have a lift they could see i was struggling so they transferred us to one of the cottages on site which was very nice

An absolutely lovely traditional English hotel!
Pros:

Fantastic spot. Lovely building and views.

Cons:

Limited food options into the evening. This was magnified by being isolated from local amenities. A simple food carousel or anything would be ideal…yeah not classy I know. But very helpful!

I was only there for a one night stopover but I can highly recommend this hotel.
Pros:

The staff were very friendly, ringing before I arrived to check what time I would be getting to the hotel and letting me know the restaurant opening times, even asking if I wanted to have a sandwich prepared for me as I was going to arrive after they closed. The bed was very comfortable, it was quiet and the breakfast was superb. Nothing was too much trouble.

Would recommend for adults.
Pros:

Food was lovely, we asked for some more milk and staff gave us a big jug! All friendly and welcoming.
We wandered around pond in garden after dinner.

Cons:

Downlight missing in room.

Not what we needed.
Pros:

We did really get to use the hotel properly as we were in late and out early but from what we did experience: The hot water in the taps was instant and the room outlook was pleasant.

Cons:

We need to be out early both days but they wouldn't provide an early breakfast or a packup. As the only time we would be likely to use a hotel in the area is to attend an event that starts early we won't be using it again. Very expensive for what was effectivlely just a bed.

Comfy bed

Cons:

Very poor service at breakfast. Poor choice and had to clear our own table to sit down. Then had to ask for items constantly. Ie, glass to have juice. Marmalade for toast. Just seemed poorly organised and understaffed.

Lovely location, comfortable bed, quiet.

Cons:

A bit old fashioned and outdated. Breakfast was slow and dinner was rushed! Creaky floorboards at night.

The room was large and clean with good facilities
Good choice for breakfast
Nicely decorated throughout

Cons:

The bath is high so getting in and out for the shower was difficult even with the hand rail, as the bathroom was large it would have been good to have a separate shower.
