Aiya Resort Koh Tao

Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the room felt unclean and quite dingy. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the room, the bathroom smelled strongly of urine, and the towels had a foul odour that was genuinely off-putting.

Noise was also a major issue. The room offered very little soundproofing, and we could hear everything from the street as well as from neighbouring rooms, making it difficult to relax or get a good night’s sleep.

While the hotel may be suitable if you’re simply looking for somewhere to rest your head, it fell far short of our expectations. We were so unhappy with our experience that we chose to leave a day early. In fact, we dreaded returning to the room and spent as little time there as possible.

Overall, the cleanliness, unpleasant smells, and excessive noise made for a very uncomfortable stay, and we would not choose to stay here again.

It was slightly more expensive than other areas in Thailand but all seemed to be like that.

Zero sound proofing so can be loud when there are jungle parties etc.
Rooms very basic, expensive for what you get so bad value for money to be honest.
Bathrooms not good, window that we couldn’t open and no extractor fan.
We got our room cleaned once and it didn’t feel very clean afterwards so didn’t get it cleaned again.
Location about 10 mins from restaurants and extra 5 mins to beach.
Could really do with some sun loungers by the pool rather than four bean bags.
Overall, the exterior of the hotel is very nice and they have put effort into making it look nice from the outside, but neglected the rooms.

Loud guests on balcony’s or in the pool can be heard easily from inside your room. Peak season the property is on the pricier side.

I wanted a double bed but there wasn't any available so I had to get 2 single beds. The mattresses were really hard not comfortable

Shower not separate from rest of bathroom so gets wet and setup was a bit awkward
No elevator so depending on where your room is may need to climb stairs
We asked to arrange a transfer to the pier the day prior for when we checked out and were quoted 100baht per person and on the day we came down at the agreed time it was as if they had no idea about it and then said it would be 150baht per person
We only got our room made up once during our stay by choice but strangely after we did there were lots of bugs in the room which we previously didn’t have an issue with, we assume they left the door and window open whilst cleaning which is unpleasant to return to

Not enough beanbags/chairs around the pool - I think there were 4 in total.
The toilet seat in our room didn't fit properly and the towels smelled pretty damp after 1 use.

The photos used for the pool area do not reflect real life. There are no beds by the pool only 5 uncomfortable leather bean bags so no where near enough for the hotel guests.
There is also very loud construction work going on next door which we were not informed about at any point during the booking process. This made it impossible to relax at the hotel pool
I don’t think the price of this hotel reflects well for what you get
