The best breakfast in an old struggling building
Pros:

The breakfast & grounds.
Skeleton crew staff multitasking in untenable conditions.

Cons:

Facilities shut, unavailable spa, gym. Bar warm poorly stocked beer at city prices.
No money back for false advertising.

A little disappointed with the Deluxe Room
Pros:

Lovely setting with a lake and a reservoir nearby. We upgraded the room to a deluxe king room which was nice with a small table and chairs. Good breakfast and toiletries.

Cons:

The hotel decoration looks tired, shower cubicle has black mold around the base, toilet is too close to the door which made it too difficult to sit on it. No water bottles for guests just an empty jug and glasses. No air conditioning in the room but a fan was provided.

Convenient but disappointing
Pros:

Attractive grounds. Friendly lady on reception at check in

Cons:

Dated decoration. Tired furniture. Disgusting stains on bedside lamps. Tiny window does not open properly on a very hot day. Dirty windows and frames. Filthy remote control. No natural light. Very old fashioned bathroom (avocado suite). Sections of plaster missing and cracked on the wall. Many advertised facilities not available. Communal areas not cleaned. Dirty tables in reception and bar areas. Bar man unhelpful and rude

Pros:

I loved the grounds, and the staff.

Cons:

The couple in 309 room were horrendous. They argued all night and then had to on full blast and heard unwanted noises untill 6 am. It was horrendous. With the heat wave I was absolutely sweating to death. No fans or air cons. Windows open about 6 inches no more. Other guests rude xx

Amazing value
Pros:

Beautiful property with many historic charms. Friendly staff throughout & delicious breakfast buffet. Loved being able to walk around the reservoir too. Incredible value for money, price wasn’t much more expensive than a pub but the hotel & service were worlds apart.

Overall fine.
Pros:

One night to attend local wedding. All OK overall.

Cons:

1. Attention to detail with cleaning.....seems most focus on bathrooms. Window sill and surrounds fairly grubby. And tv remote was like a science project to be honest. Washed my hands quick after touching it every time.
2. Asked receptionist to organise a taxi for the evening to get to a wedding. Waited at time should have been booked for, but wasn't booked.....other receptionist organised straight away, but we were 15 minutes late.
