Location
No swimming pool
The location is perfect, close to everything in Como! We were here for three nights and enjoyed our stay. The rooms and beds were comfortable. We stayed in a Superior Double, did not have a view of the lake. We were not in our room very much so having the view did not impact our stay here. Note however that there is an alley in back of the hotel where you do occasionally here the trash being tossed (bottles). The breakfast was really good (just also mentioning that they do have birds who like to enjoy the garden area and we would like to try to hop on your table here and there). We had a drink outside on the terrace, Ricardo was a great help to us recommending drinks, restaurants, etc.
Great recommendations for things to do from hotel staff
We really enjoyed the property
Good location, kind staff, quaint small boutique hotel in a really great spot on the lake and right in the middle of everything.
I like to support boutique hotels so the opportunity to stay lakefront at Como in a single for two nights as a tired working traveler was enticing. Unfortunately, I ended up fighting a painful skin infection while in Milan and so I was wary about traveling any distance with my massive luggage. Two days before I arrived I asked hotel to consider a full refund to avoid travel but they declined, said they’d cancellation would be a day’s rate—which was something like $450. That could have covered two nights in Milan, so I went to Como. But the first room I got was on the fourth floor facing the hotel garbage dump—I hope that wasn’t the “inner courtyard” advertised—and it was searing hot at 3 pm, but the AC wasn’t working. Open windows and the fan they gave me would have been a workable solution but the wafting smell of hot garbage wasn’t tolerable. It was also incredibly noisy—a construction crew was doing some kind of overhaul next door, and every now again, you’d hear garbage being processed, dumped, crunched, dragged. Certainly not a room you pay $450 a night for. The hotel kindly offered to move me to a better room, but the move could only happen the next day. And they did try to make it worth my while, and for my second night gave me a beautiful room on the third floor overlooking the lake. I appreciated that.
I travel a lot and I’m pretty easy—just need a few basic things, and super clean accommodations, but I can’t do without room coffee/kettle. I didn’t notice when I booked Albergo has no coffee or kettles in the room. The bar’s Americano, while delicious, is €7. And breakfast doesn’t begin until 7:30, so if you are an early riser, and like to enjoy coffee first thing, you’re going to need to go looking for it.
As much as I appreciated the kind, cheerful staff, I don’t think I’d recommend Albergo.
Right in the heart of Como city, this hotel has beautiful architecture along with great service. The gardens were beautiful!
Ein schönes Hotel mit besonderen Räumen. Feines Frühstück im hübschen Wintergarten. Wunderbarer Jasmin Garten mit Abendsonne für einen Abendtrunk. Sehr hilfsbereites Personal.
Der Ausblick aus dem Einzelzimmer 307 (?) war alles andere als schön: Abstellhof mit lauter Abfallsäcken und Kehrichteimern.
elegance and location. location. location.
all great
Lovely hotel, staff went above and beyond!
Make sure you do not get a room at the back of the Hotel. Its really noisy with the bins being collected, this went on for all hours the first night.
The Hotel kindly let me change rooms to the front of the Hotel for the rest of my stay which was really quiet.
Albergo Terminus is a historic building with lovely common parlor spaces throughout the first two floors; a fabulous garden patio that is elevated from the street level and has lake views; an open, airy dining room which also faces the lake.
It is considered a four star hotel although during our visit we found that not all guest rooms are four star accommodations. Our stay was part of an extended stay booked through a river cruise line. The rooms assigned to the 20 or so guests on this portion of our trip did not feel the four star rating as per general consensus.
The change over to AC had not yet occurred so the rooms were a little warm. We were able to change our room from the rear of the building to the side of the building which was a little better for ventilation. A passage way between our hotel and the one next door sat below our 2nd floor window. It was used at all hours by the locals as a short cut to the lake without regard that hotel guests might be sleeping at night. One of these hotel properties should be thinking of their guests comfort.
The front desk staff and porters were the absolute best!! They went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The dining room servers at breakfast were warm and attentive. The buffet style breakfast covered all the bases, and some. The room servicing staff was inconsistent and bathroom supplies were never fully stocked or replenished during our stay.
The location of the Albergo Terminus is its biggest asset. It sits lakefront across from the ferry. It is steps from the historic city center and a short walk to the funicular. Everything you want to see or do is easily accessible.
