It was a really big room. The bathroom is massive as well. They got an iron, ironing board, a fridge, etc. It was a really nice experience.
It's an old building but it could be managed better so it doesn't look abandoned.
The room was perfect but the mattress was very hard
When a stranger lady knock on my room door at 23:00 hours looking for a phone charger when I was on my phone to my partner and my partner thought I had a woman in my room
Yes my partner went mental at me
Location
Dirty, bathroom and bath especially was disgusting. Not worth the money
Always stay at the Britannia when visiting Coventry feel comfortable
I think that many of the reviews left for this hotel are grossly unfair and I always pride myself on my honest reviews - so here goes....
The Britannia Hotel Coventry was our base hotel for a three night coach holiday visiting Stratford-on-Avon and a couple of the Cotswold villages. I had read the reviews on here and must say that my first impressions as the coach pulled up outside the hotel were not good, when we were greeted with the dated worn facade of the concrete building with dirty windows and surrounding areas. I will also echo what has been written about the reception staff in other reviews, in that they could mostly do with some training on polite customer service and flashing a nice smile and uttering a warm greeting to their guests every now again! Having said that, the one time that we did seek help with a problem, the girl we spoke to was very helpful and polite to us.
As a pre-booked group the checking in process was well organised and quick - so no complaints there! The lifts are a good size and the two that were working were quick and plentiful. Neither my friend or myself had any 'unlocking' problems with our key cards during our stay and we were both pleasantly surprised when we walked into our rooms - which were exactly the same. The rooms were large, spacious and spotlessly clean, with two single beds with crisp clean bedding, a bedside table, desk, chest of drawers, two comfy chairs, fitted wardrobe with iron and ironing board. There was a hairdryer, tv, tea making facilities with lots of tea, coffee and milk. The bathroom was equally clean with plenty of towels, toilet paper and shower gel. There was plenty of hot water when showering and it was easy to control the temperature needed by moving the taps. We did both have a bit of a flooding incident when using the shower when it was fixed up high in the holder, but we were able to combat that by hand holding it which worked fine for us. There is no room servicing, but again that did not bother us at all, if anything we preffered it!
We were on a half board basis and we found the buffet style meals to be varied, plentiful and well cooked. There was a roast meat each night, a vegetarian option and another main dish which over the three nights was Lasagne, Lamb stew and chicken curry. There was also Scampi one night and battered fish another. There was a perfectly adequate salad bar and a choice of defrosted cream sponge cakes and cheesecake desserts which were the same each night. Breakfast in the morning was also good with cereals, fruit, yoghurts, bread to toast, and the usual hot choices of eggs, bacon, sausage, beans tomatoes, Hash browns etc... My friend has a dietry requirement which the dining room staff were able to accommodate willingly and with a smile. The young man who worked in the bar in the evening was delightful with a lovely smile and happy disposition! The drinks were very reasonably priced and good.
All in all we had a very good stay at the Britannia Coventry hotel and we would definately return if we ever found ourselves in Coventry again, yes it is a bit tired and dated, but the price reflects that! So don't believe a lot of the rubbish written below, a lot of them are incredibly unfair....
I loved the cleanliness of the room and how comfortable it was
Nothing, everything was perfect
All staff are friendly and helpful and need anything they are happy to help 😊 very Good
Nothing
The hotel is very tired and run down. It is cheap but not cheerful. Before you consider booking suggest you read and watch reviews which are all consistently bad.
It had a vacancy
Miserable staff, run down, insane ID policy. Send a PIN number, yet my partner couldn’t check in until I’d arrived. So she had to wait in the lobby for 2 hours.
