On a very hot weekend, bar staff filled water bottles on request and put ice in them because taps were running warm.
Car park was difficult to find.
Great location with a car park in the city centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely spacious room and super bathroom
Location
It is advertised as rooms with A/C. The A/C was non existent. Room was like a hot box. Food was poor. Bar man was miserable.
Having grown up in Peterborough I’ve known the Bull for years. V handy as in centre of town. Bar is always nice and we thought bar food superb. Brilliant female singer on Saturday night
Much of decor is v dated - I’m sure some hasn’t changed since I grew up in Peterborough in the 80s and even the refurbished rooms had a look from about thirty years ago! Next time we’ll ensure we ask for ground or first floor room as going up two floors with no lift on a hot weekend was not fun!
The bedroom (296) with great air con!
And the convenience of the car park.
Breakfast service in the buffet was slow - we preferred the bar service on our second day.
The hotel was nice, but the rooms are a bit dated in décor. This didn't detract from our stay.
The rooms were comfortable but a little dated.
Room was excellent, air conditioning was wonderful during this recent hot weather, bed very comfortable, also the bath! Breakfast was excellent - all well cooked, hot, and those serving were very attentive, yet not too much so. Manager was also very helpful when we had a minor issue.
The minor issue was that we booked online via booking.com but couldn't manage to book breakfast online. When we arrived we asked the receptionist whether we could have breakfast in the morning, and she said yes of course, its £12 each, just turn up. We did this, had a fabulous breakfast but were then charged £15 per head because she hadn't told us she needed to book us in and hadn't booked us in for it. We told the manager this, and he promptly apologised, said he would see that staff all know this, issued us a refund of £6, and also told us that if we had managed to book breakfast online it would have been £10 per head, and booked at the hotel it is £12 per head, and just turn up and eat is £15 per head. All useful to know. We would definitely return again - it is a fantastic hotel.
The bar / lounge area was lovely!! The feeling of a rural country pub in a town centre location, extremely welcoming bar staff and clientele around, loved it!
The breakfast team were in high numbers, lovely, welcoming and extremely polite and helpful!
Paying for my stay upon arrival - I much prefer to settle my stay and extras upon check out.
Breakfast team - a lack of management with staff at six's & seven's a little - but I honestly enjoyed observing it all :-)
A lot of corridor and bedroom noise with comings and goings from midnight - 3am. Granted it was a Friday
The location of the hotel was great for me as it was easily walkable from the station and close to the cathedral. My room was alright for size and everything was very clean. The hotel lobby area was very pleasantly cool and air-conditioned and as I was there while it was crazily hot, this was a relief.
It's not the hotel's fault that I was there during a mega-heatwave but the room was unbearably hot even with the fan going. There was no air-con and the temperature in the room was being added to continually by the heated towel rail in the bathroom being on at full blast with no way to turn it off - this led to me being extremely uncomfortable during my one night there.
Wonderful ambience inside the hotel and great location. Bar area was so cosy and the air conditioned public areas downstairs were amazing as it was so hot outside. The staff without exception were all so welcoming and friendly.
This was not the property fault but an error on booking.com. We booked a standard twin room which said it had air conditioning in the details. On getting to our room we indeed had neither of these things and as the hotel was full were unable to change rooms. As it was so hot we barely slept!!
It would seem that standard rooms do not have air conditioning for anyone else looking to book here.
