Last mintue booking, turned my whole trip around!
Pros:

I made a very late last minute booking with FH55 Grand Hotel Palatino. I had to leave the property I had already booked and checked in to early, due to safety concerns, so my visit to Rome had gotten off to an unhappy start. I am so happy that I was able to get a room at this hotel. It is very accessible for people with mobility issues, despite having stairs out the front they do have a chair lift. The staff were incredibly kind, they told me at check in that usually they would upgrade the booking for this room, but were booked out so would instead arrange some surprises for me. One of the lovely surprises was a bottle of Prosecco in a bucket of ice! And the next morning the hotel manager rang me directly to ask if I was okay, due to the last minute arrival! The staff were always around when I needed anything, I needed help buying new luggage as both my suitcase and carry on bag broke on the train to Rome. They drew me a map of the best shopping spots for this. They were always very attentive. The location was fantastic. I didn't realise when booking how close to the Colsseum! I had been in Rome a week before and stayed in a different area. So it was wonderful to get such a comparison of this big city. It is a very short walk to a lovely little spot, Piazza della Madonna dei Monti (just past the entry to Chiesa di Santa Maria ai Monti). This turned out to be a hidden gem! There is a lovely fountain, it isn't too busy with tourists, and there are a couple excellent places to eat. I had dinner here more than once, and just liked to visit. But best of all is the gelati and sweets available at Don Nino, just on the corner of the piazza. Overall, wonderful experience. Definitely turned the trip from a sad beginning to a happy ending!

Cons:

Nothing I can think of!
