Location is great. Car park is a nice feature.
Our room was in the newest addition to the hotel. Despite informing the property at the time of booking that my 85 year old mother could not do steps, we were put in a room not only with three steps down/up, but with a very cumbersome fire door at the top of the steps. It was honestly a nightmare trying to wrestle our bags to the room. Additionally, the room was small with far too much furniture- there was no place to open or unpack our bags, which was terribly awkward and disappointing. Also - room lighting left much to be desired as it was dark and hard to see.
The location of the hotel was excellent. The room was quiet. We had a Tudor room in the old part of the hotel. This was very nice. My wife Did struggle with the stair because of a recent broken ankle. So in hindsight we would have been better in the modern part of the hotel that had lifts to all floors.
The staff looked after us very well with help with our cases. The breakfast was excellent, the service was great with a good selection of food to choose from. The bar staff were also very good. A nice selection of bar snacks.
Check in with Helen was really very lovely; professional and friendly. Also the young lady in the cafe was excellent -- again, very professional and friendly.
Incredible noise in the dining room on Monday 8 June when work was being done. Quite disturbing.
Midden in het centrum en toch grote eigen parkeerplaats. Prachtig oud pand, zeer sfeervol.
Mooie badkamer, goede douche.
Kleine kamer, klein bed 160 cm.
The location was superb and it was very helpful to park on site. The hotel was clean, friendly, welcoming, and comfortable! I loved the cafe and snug at the front which were buzzing after we got back from the theatre.
My friends complained the AC was a bit loud but I had no issue with it at all (just flagging for those that are noise sensitive) and the car park was expensive in my view.
Location is excellent for the theatre and central Stratford. Plenty of parking attached. The staff were all brilliant - exceptionally helpful and pleasant.
Nothing
Everything about this hotel was exceptional. It has a real character. The location is perfect for the theatre and all other attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast was very good and there was a lot of choice
Nothing
There are many decent, comfortable hotels, but this one stands out from the rest. The reception staff are always efficient and obliging; the rooms (in which everything works) are spotless and the cleaning staff are extremely kind; but today I shall single out the waiting and kitchen staff for special praise.
Breakfast this morning was particularly busy: on a Sunday, everyone wants the same slot. Keeping a full room organised, fed and happy must be a herculean task, but it went without a hitch. The waiting team were unfailingly courteous, prompt and thoughtful, the manager calm and approachable under stress, and my breakfast (made to my order, not grabbed from a buffet, thank goodness) was beautifully cooked and presented. My second pot of tea arived in an instant, despite the busy atmosphere. And instead of little factory-packed parcels of butter, it seemed that each pat had been individually cut and wrapped. As the lady next to me at the toaster said, can you think of any other hotel where you've experienced that?
Not a single thing.
Lovely bathroom great character and great value
Nothing
Lovely breakfast and a wonderful location for the theatre and convenient for the station. Spacious room with a view of the garden and the Guild church.
Nothing - we were very pleased with our stay.
King room with a really poor view
Great staff, lovely decor. Combination of historical building with modern rooms.
Breakfast was below average. Coffee was awful.
Characterful hotel with great facilities in the middle of town. Excellent restaurant.
Taps in bathroom leaked, and shower tap came off in my hand. Pillows very hard for me. Shame the breakfast bread tasted like supermarket bread, unlike our bread at dinner which was absolutely delicious and home made.
Excellent restoration into a comfortable and characterful hotel. Public areas were stylish and well furnished. The garden area is a gem. The restaurant is excellent and currently probably the best in Stratford; Sunday lunch is particularly recommended. Staff service throughout is exceptional.
Just one dislike; the unimaginative bread selection at breakfast. Given the rise of independent bakeries across Britain this is almost unforgivable in what is otherwise a splendid hotel.
