Terrible, avoid this hotel
Pros:

The staff were nice and the common areas like the bar obviously had some money spent on them recently.

Cons:

The rooms we had were miniscule and very badly appointed. Our room was supposed to be a double but the tiny bed was shoved sideways under the window so I had to crawl over my husband in the night to go to the loo. The only mirror was in the bathroom so I had to dry my hair using the selfie mode on my phone, and it was the morning of my son's wedding so it would have been nice to have had a proper mirror. The carpet and fittings were tired and old. Everything felt worse than budget. The room was £139 a night and they charged an extra £16 for breakfast. I feel completely ripped off.

Pros:

The location is perfect, as the hotel is right next to the train station. We booked a Deluxe Double Room, which was spacious and looked just like the photos shown on the website. Our room had a lovely view of the garden.

This is a historic hotel that has been open since 1860, and the lobby is beautiful. Although the building is quite old, it seems to have been redecorated in recent years. The room itself has a modern and stylish design while still retaining some of the hotel’s historic charm.

The bathroom sink was blocked when we arrived, but the staff responded very quickly and fixed the issue as soon as we reported it. They were all very friendly, helpful, and efficient.

Cons:

Although the hotel has been redecorated, some of the fixtures are already showing signs of wear. For example, the tissue holder, door handle and the small bedside light was almost falling off.

The overall cleanliness of the room was not bad, but I think the shower area could be cleaner. The tile grout had turned yellow, and there was still some visible black mould around the shower area.

The water pressure was also inconsistent, which made it very frustrating to maintain a comfortable water temperature while showering.

Pros:

Nice old hotel with some lovely period features.
Beautiful garden area at back of property a bonus feature.
Nice furnishings and dining areas, bars etc very nicely furnished.

Cons:

Stayed here for 3 nights and our room was over looking railway station which was lovely.
But early hours you are woken upto bin lorries and noise meant going back to sleep wasnt great.
Also windows in our room one in bedroom didnt open or shut properly and meant continuing squeaking noise from it until we had to take action ourselves to sort.
Did see reception about it and shown different options feom Manager to change, but no options that managed the size of our room.
Our room was huge but would say furniture could be changed around a bit to make it feel more luxurious.
Bathroom also big but again window not opening. With the temperatures we had it would have been nice to have a bit more air in these rooms

Not as enjoyable as the first time we stayed
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Having to move rooms on arrival due to air conditioning and telephone not working in assigned room. Being woken up at 1am by hotel staff entering the room to tell us that there was a leak in the room downstairs. Strong smell of sewage the following morning in the corridor outside the room.
