The Salthouse Hotel

Location was excellent for sightseeing and enjoying the area.

We had an accessible room and it was very big with a really well laid out bathroom. Super shower. Loads of room. The dining roomand bar had superb views. The hotel was very tastefully designed.

Breakfast was lovely with a good range of food available. Rooms a good size & beds very comfortable. Spa was lovely & had an amazing seaweed treatment overlooking the ocean & wonderful views.

Good except for view outside room.birds nest and bird poo on windowsill..food was just ok.our meals were lukewarm..lamb was chewy ! Service in bar was good.

Beautiful setting and coffee/scones. However, this is the 2nd time I have visited the hotel and both times I have sensed amniosity amongst the staff working together. All of the times I have visited the hotel the staff have been arguing amongst themselves creating quite an uncomfortable atmosphere for the guests. The first time the bar manager was shouting at the staff to collect orders from the bar and complaining saying “does no one work here” with quite an angry look on his face. The other times this same man was complaining about an alcohol license again in front of the guests very irritated and raising his voice at staff to the point where staff had to remind him that customers were watching. Not to mention the service was very slow as a result of this. I think the staff should be more mindful of their audience as it can make guests feel quite awkward and can look quite unprofessional. Just a suggestion as wouldn't want to spoil this beautiful hotel with a tense atmosphere!

If you’re headed toward Ballycastle, this is the spot for you. Great hotel with two good restaurants and a fantastic spa area where you can enjoy two pools, a hot tub, saunas and steam rooms (for a modest upcharge - (but worth it after a day of exploring).

The setting is incredible the atmosphere truly enjoyable. The service in the restaurant was “leisurely” but we were not in any hurry.

Overall clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast. Unfortunately after paying for bed and breakfast, on arrival was informed that spa was open but to use pool, sauna etc you have to pay £45 per person and facilities only open until 8pm in evening and the next morning 10am for overnight guests. For us as a couple to pay an extra £90 to use pool and sauna this seems very expensive and not worth it. For guests staying I feel this should be complimentary of the price paid.

Booked the Salthouse for a relaxing experience for my wife and I. I paid GBP320 for a basic room. In comparison I live in Hong Kong and you can stay at the best rated hotels in the world for that price. The room itself was confortable and clean, but a very basic room.

When I arrived, I asked what time the pool was open, and was informed it would cost me and additional GBP90 (GB45 per person) to use the pool. The reason for this is we booked through booking.com and not directly which was in the terms and conditions.

This ruined my trip from the start and I told them this. To charge another GBP90 to use the facilities after paying over 300 for the room is insane. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion that a company targets people for extra money who book through site THAT SALTHOUSE offers their rooms on. I was told I should always read the Terms and conditions by the manager which I thought was rude. My friend paid GBP500 for a suite and they still charged him gbp45 for the facilities.

I then went and read the terms and conditions, it stated the cost was GBP20, and I reported this back. They said these were the old terms that had not been updated. Thy honoured the GBP20 pp.

The spa itself in my opinion is nothing special, especially for that price. It has two small swimming pools, a sauna (Luke warm), steam room and a salt room which doesnt really do much in my opinion. I was expecting decent facilities like ice baths and infrared saunas the way this new state of the art spa was described.

The new bar areas is nice for a drink and the restaurant food was lovely but expect to pay for it.

We then wanted a late check the next day and surprise surprise, GBP20 per hour extra.

Overall, very dissappointed. Salthouse is in my opinion not worth the money in any way shape or form and my experience overall was a negative one. I would choose Galgorm over this every time.
