Het hotel lost problemen uiteindelijk wel op, maar helaas niet op de manier die je qua klantenservice van een hotel in deze categorie zou mogen verwachten. Juist bij een hotel met zoveel sterren verwacht je dat er nét dat beetje extra aandacht en zorgvuldigheid is wanneer er iets serieus misgaat. Wat ons betreft deed de afhandeling de sterren van het hotel dan ook geen eer aan.
Tijdens ons verblijf werden we drie ochtenden achter elkaar wakker met nieuwe beten of steken. Uiteraard hebben we dit bij het hotel gemeld. Er werd vriendelijk en verontschuldigend gereageerd, wat we op zichzelf zeker waarderen. Wat ons echter erg tegenviel, is dat het vervolgens voornamelijk bij excuses bleef.
We kregen uiteindelijk wel een andere kamer aangeboden. Op zich natuurlijk fijn, maar tot onze verbazing was dit de kamer direct naast onze oorspronkelijke kamer, terwijl die oude kamer vervolgens uitgebreid behandeld werd. Dat gaf ons eerlijk gezegd niet bepaald een gerust gevoel. Van een hotel in deze categorie hadden we verwacht dat men in zo'n situatie uit voorzorg een kamer op een andere verdieping zou aanbieden, of eventueel een upgrade. Niet omdat wij vinden dat we per se iets extra's verdienen, maar omdat dit naar onze mening past bij de service en zorgvuldigheid die je van een hotel van dit niveau mag verwachten.
Wat daarnaast vooral voor onrust zorgde, was de onduidelijke en tegenstrijdige communicatie over de mogelijke aanwezigheid van bedwantsen. Omdat je die uiteraard absoluut niet mee naar huis of naar een volgend hotel wilt nemen, hebben we hier specifiek navraag naar gedaan. Een jongere conciërge reageerde ontkennend en gaf ons de indruk dat er niets was aangetroffen.
Bij het uitchecken kregen we echter van een oudere conciërge een heel ander verhaal te horen. Zijj vertelde dat alle matrassen en het linnengoed uit onze oorspronkelijke kamer waren verwijderd en dat de kamer volledig was behandeld.

Room was exactly what you need. They’re cosy size but still enough space. Shower and bathroom brilliant as well. The location is perfect and so easy to get to.

Love this hotel. Second time staying here and I would stay there again if I am ever lucky enough to return to Kyoto. Just around the corner from Kyoto Train Station , shops, restaurants and temples. Fabulous hotel.. the staff are very friendly and helpful. Free bus service from Hotel to Train Station if you needed it due to heavy bags... but the walk is literally 5 mins. We had a triple room for myself, husband and teenage son. We had lots of room and everyone was happy. The beds are super comfortable and the breakfast is fabulous. Love love love it. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to return. Thank you everyone.
