Awful treatment and beware of their MINIMUM spend rules
Pros:

Been going here for over 30 years for drinks, food and parties and this time was awful. We were told to go to the Rivoli bar downstairs and sat down and ordered drinks after around 10 mins. I told them I was was in a hurry as we were leaving for a show and my daughter had her 21st so I brought her down for a drink before we headed off.

After another 10 mins a guy came back and told us that we must spend £150.00 between 3 of us otherwise he cannot serve us. I said please bring the drinks which came to around £50 and we can take our pics and leave and he said NO

I said really do you what me to leave and he said if you don’t spend £150.00 yes you will have to leave, I said but why wasn’t I told this before you sat down and he said we don’t tell anyone as they find it offensive so I said you don’t think it’s offensive asking us to leave when we have been sitting there for over 15 mins waiting. I spoke to a manager on my way out and how disappointing it was to be treated like this and it was a very special occasion for my daughter and she was so upset when we left. Since then I received an email to say we are sorry and nothing else. Poor show for the RITZ you obviously don’t like normal customers and you should tell us that we are not welcome. Take some customer service lessons from the SAVOY & PENINSULA who welcomed us with open arms for the next few days and made us feel special.

A wonderful experience
Pros:

We had afternoon tea and the experience was wonderful from start to finish.
Despite the hotel undergoing renovation, you would never know,
We were made to feel special from the start
We were not able to be in the famous palm court but the area we were in was comfortable and luxurious
The atmosphere was perfect made even more special by the pianist Ian playing a wonderful selection of music to enhance the quiet calm ambiance
The food and service was top quality as you would expect from this hotel
All in all the Ritz did not disappoint and made our special birthday celebration perfect
Thank you!

Secret Garden minimum spend needs reviewing!
Pros:

We were pleasantly surprised to discover the new secret garden was open, but even more surprised with the £75 per person minimum spend ! Despite spending over the minimum spend service was slow, no recognition was given for two birthdays being celebrated. Very disappointed as it’s a beautiful space with lovely live music and atmosphere the rest is just a let down …

Great food, amazing service, mices and an unspeakable manager
Pros:

Dinner at the Secret Garden
Food and service was amazing
Shame about 3 mice which kept us company during the dinner and an arrogant manager who asked which “section” of the Health and Safety UK law of 1974 I was referring to when I complained about the presence of mice having a nice stroll within the venue

A wonderful lunch at the Secret Garden with fabulous service.
Pros:

We visited the Secret Garden for the first time today and had the most wonderful time. The setting is just beautiful. We enjoyed champagne, the Mezze Platter which was delicious and plentiful, followed by the crab brioches, also lovely.
We loved the music playing, but the icing on the cake was our waitress Vera. She really was fantastic and it was such a pleasure chatting to her. She remembered that we mentioned in passing when we sat down that we were there or a late birthday celebration and at the end of our meal brought my friend a little birthday cake which again was delicious. It really made my friends day. I am already booked again for August and can't wait to return.

Not what I was expecting
Pros:

Room good size and well decorated although missing simple things

Cons:

Going through extensive renovations. No real lobby to relax. Lift doesn’t work I got stuck in there. Staff didn’t care. Not the hospitality expected for the ritz. They are changing high prices and not delivering quality product. Should shut down for renovation. None of the orginal restaurants or bars are open. Everything is squashed into a small footprint. Entering the hotel is chaotic with delivery vans out the front. Not 5 star. Hotel manager doesn’t care. They should be upfront about the state of the hotel instead of not telling guests

Best birthday experience
Pros:

I came here yesterday to celebrate my 35th birthday with my mum, I’ve been excited for months that we was able to get a reservation on my birthday but the whole experience from getting out of the taxi was truly fabulous, everyone was soo friendly and welcoming, and they were so lovely about accommodating my mum who has a dairy allergy and she was blown away by the choice, a massive thankyou to our waiter Brian your service and smile was truly wonderful but to the everyone you truly made it a memorable experience for me thankyou very much and hopefully will be returning soon.

A Perfect Night
Pros:

There were six of us in our party — including an 11 and 15-year-old — and I’m confident if you asked any of us about our most favorite meal in London, it would be dinner at the Ritz. Not only was the food fantastic, but the restaurant was lovely and the service was utterly exceptional. They accommodated us without blinking when we requested an EXTRA Beef Wellington (boys have BIG appetites!) on top of the ones they ordered, and the Langoustine appetizer, amuse de Boucher and oh!! Those chocolate soufflés!! But wait — we had such fun, besides! We’ve eaten at many a Michelin star(s) restaurant where everyone talks in low murmurs and one never engages the staff, but this Ritz has BOTH the food AND the atmosphere down to making it a perfect evening.

Building pictures do not reflect the actual building. Still catered and staffed by a first class team but …..
Pros:

Service and staff just as good as ever but be warned the extensive renovation of the original building will impact the experience
I had no idea after booking 3 months in advance that the Ritz has been relocated to a smaller adjoining building
Renovations are likely to take 2 to 4 years but staff were not clear

Treated Unfairly as a Paying Guest!
Pros:

My stay at the Ritz *could* have been the perfect experience - the hotel is beautiful, historic, and truly special - but certain staff at this hotel ruined this for me and therefore I will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone else. My mother and I stayed here for four nights and had just had an incredible experience at the Hotel du Louvre in Paris, and our first two nights at The Ritz were wonderful. It was on the third day that we arrived back at the hotel that we noticed new staff were on duty, that the doormen questioned us if we were actually guests. We said yes and entered. We were stopped twice more at reception and then again at the bar, and were told it was because we were wearing tennis shoes/trainers. The manager came over immediately and very aggressively explained that they have a dress code and these shoes are not allowed. I pointed out that another patron was already seated in the bar wearing trainers and he had no answer for that! Upon arrival on our first day, no one told us about the dress code, and a very nice woman in reception allowed both of us to sit in this exact location in outfits very similar to the ones we were wearing, so we both assumed it was fine, so this entire interaction was extremely upsetting and very-much felt like racial profiling. Afterward, management promised that the door staff would be informed that we are in fact guests of the hotel, but guess what? The very next day we were stopped AGAIN and questioned before being allowed to enter. The hotel has already apologized profusely for these incidents, but why would I want to return somewhere I am paying yet not welcome? There are so many other luxury hotels in London that uphold traditional standards while still welcoming everyone and treating their paying guests with respect. The Ritz is certainly not one of them.

Luxury At It's Finest
Pros:

The Ritz is luxury at its finest, blending the highest level of professional service with a sense of comfort and belonging. We took the opportunity to ride in the hotel’s Rolls-Royce for our arrival, and from the moment we met our driver, we were transported to the world of the Ritz, where nothing is too much trouble, and all we had to do was sit back and enjoy our stay. We were very fortunate to be staying in the newly refurbished wing within the week of its opening, and everything was immaculate. We particularly appreciated the level of technology within the room, the space, and the thoughtful finishings and design of the room. The hotel's location was perfect for us, being either a pleasant stroll or a short car ride to all the places we planned to visit. We normally like to mention staff who have particularly contributed to our experience during a stay; however, at The Ritz, every staff member works together, seamlessly and at the highest level, to ensure your stay is perfect.

Worthy of staying
Pros:

Staff are friendly and helpful. Guestroom is luxury, cozy and comfortable.

Cons:

Hotel is under renovation (facade) and it definitely affects the enjoyment. Dust from construction works affects guests waiting at zebra crossing outside hotel.
