Trouble with unlocking room door
Property was historic and very impressive
It was my fathers 80th birthday and we notified hotel beforehand but no effort was made at all to recognise this. We also did not receive the rooms that we booked in the barn and were instead put in the main building opposite the spa. The air conditioning in both rooms we booked did not work
Beautiful rooms lovely service friendly and professional staff,. It was my sons birthday and chocolates and card left in his room and more chocolates given and a happy birthday when we had afternoon Tea, It is becoming a family tradition to spend our sons Birthday at Billesley Manor.

Very poor and woefully overpriced hotel - and certainly not what I'd expect from a Marriott (not even its lowest collection brands). The staff were somehow simultaneously overly precious and slovenly. The breakfast was the eorst breakfast we've ever had at any hotel - let alone a Marriott. The room was like a sauna and there were so many flies that they had to put netting over the food. We only booked this hotel with our 5 yr old son so we could use the pool. We brought him excitedly down to use it mid afternoon after we checked in and managed to have our broken tv repaired only to find out that they only allow children in the pool between 8-10 am or 4:30-6:30. Anyone who knows anything about young kids would know that those are really inappropriate hours for kids. And during those hours you had to endure seething glares from other guests who clearly weren't aware of this 'family time' either and were frustrated with us for being there consisting on swimming laps across the shallow end which is where kids under 1.2m tall gravitate towards.
We were locked out of room halfway through our stay despite being promised that wouldn't happen. At breakfast we were needlessly made to walk a certain way in, not allowed through a door only to

All of these issues in isolation are not catastrophic- and may even seem petty. But the combination of all these little irritations with the apathetic and incompetent staff made our short stay infuriating and unpleasant.
Big lesson learned about blindly trusting the Marriott brand. Save your money- as this hotel cost about 4-5x what it's worth.
The hotel is lovely we enjoyed the grounds enormously. Breakfast was great and the beds so comfortable although we were a little disappointed with the room as we imagined more space to work as you advertised for a superior room on your website. The seating area was what I would have imagined from a standard room. The view outside our room was awful. The description was courtyard view but we looked out on an old shed, greenhouse and a stack of old boards. As my partner said we would have paid extra not to have that view. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and use of the spa and pool and massage. Some staff much friendlier than others.

The drive up to the main hotel was ok. The grounds looked well kept..the main hotel building and reception area were really nice and clean and check in was smooth. I booked a barn style room, the photo showed beams but the room did not have any beams which was disappointing as that's why I choose that room. We also had to ask for robes.. which should have been in the room. The hotel is dog friendly, I believe the previous guests had a dog in our room as I found thick strands of, what I believe was dog hair in the bathroom on the floor and the bed had black crumbs in it. So I was unable to sleep.
The pool area was clean but the sauna rooms were very small. 4 people was crowded. Didn't eat here but the food what I saw looked nice. The staff in the spa area where really welcoming. The hotel grounds were nice for sitting and relaxing. Hotel just needs to look at cleanliness or have specific rooms for people with dogs.
We had a very enjoyable stay, aided by the sunny weather. The hotel was very comfortable and convenient for getting into Stratford-upon-Avon.
Whilst the service in the restaurant was a little slow, the food was very good quality and well presented.
The breakfast buffet was disappointing.
The facilities were really nice and clean. The staff were the highlight though every one of them was so polite and helpful. An absolute credit to the company. The grounds are absolutely fantastic
