We had a terrific visit to Billesley. The venue is beautiful. The house and grounds are lovely. Our room was excellent. (No 72). The bed was large and comfortable. It was quiet. The bathroom looked brand new. The air con was a godsend. We enjoyed the lovely indoor pool which was quiet. The food was excellent. The outside area was a lovely place to have a drink and a game of croquet! Staff were really nice. Veronica was one of the staff members who we found lovely and very helpful. We cant wait to return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our spa package stay at this lovely Marriott property. The spa is ok, with a rather unfriendly receptionist on the day we went; she caused quite a fuss over us asking for robes! The towels provided were also slightly threadbare and stained. The pool is adequate to swim lengths, and the sauna is small, as is the steam room. Maybe if on a spa break, the hotel could provide robes and slippers in the room ready for the spa? However, we both had a really good massage; my therapist, Claire, gave me one of the best massages I've had in a long time. Most of the staff in the hotel are young, enthusiastic and helpful. There were a few items on the menu unavailable for dinner - burrata and olive oil for the bread and olive/balsamic - strange for a kitchen to run out of olive oil? But the option of goat cheese and fig was a good replacement for the burrata, and the beef salad was very tasty. Husband had chicken terrine and a burger. Service was very slow between courses, but we were in no rush, so it didn't matter. Buffet breakfast next morning - after a divine sleep in our lovely room overlooking the fountain - was plentiful.
After breakfast we walked the grounds, including the quaint little 11th-century church and topiary garden - just delightful.
For the price of the package, this was a fabulous stay and for all that was included, very good value!
We went on a Secret escapes break but was disappointed with the room given, it was along a rabbit warren of corridors and the view from the window was a brick wall and service pipe! We complained then given a room in the adjacent building which was better with huge bathroom and dressing room.

Lovely room, but the hotel is a bit complicated to get around at first, steps here and there. Spa not bad, pool was nice but steam room and sauna a bit small for such a big place. Grounds are lovely to walk in.
Lack of bar options like beers and lagers and staff not managing the bar, too busy in restaurant and getting their drinks to accommodate. Food unfortunately was poor. Ate at restaurant x2 and both nights not good food, especially for the price. Undercooked prawns sent back, poor fillet steak, dry, tough and expensive for what it was. Raw vegetables. Breakfast average and no cappuccinos until after 9am. Staff nice when we advised of food issues and gave a partial refund on one occasion but high class hotels should have high class chefs.

We booked this as a deal through Secret Escapes and added our ten year old on to the booking at no extra charge for the room, but we did have to pay for her evening meal.
We had a lovely stay and made use of the swimming pool during the children's swim times on the day of arrival. We had the pool to ourselves for the majority of our time there.
We did have to ask for the additional fold out bed to be added to our room and towels too, but this was done whilst at the pool and wasn't a problem at all. The room had a fridge, with bottled water in- always a welcome extra!
The room was a decent size and had all the amenities we wanted. It was clean and well decorated too. It also looked out over the gardens, which was lovely.
Staff were friendly and attentive- especially during the evening meal. Drinks and food were on the pricey side, but no more than any other hotel we've stayed in really.
Overall, a great stay and we would go back.

The location was good. The gardens were well maintained and pleasant to sit in. The pool was small, but as it was quiet, it was relaxing. Spa area looked nice (didn't use it) just due to our timings.
We had dinner - overdone to be honest and pretty basic. Breakfast was average. Staff were pleasant enough but often not around. Ordered drinks at the bar and only got one drink (out of 2) then the bar tender took someone else's order and served them, then languidly went back to completing our order. When I booked our stay I said it was a 35th wedding anniversary - I was disappointed that I got 2 messages with lists of what I can buy (beer, wine, petals, fruit basket and so on). This place seems definitely keen on the upsell. There was no acknowledgment of the anniversary. I had asked for a nice table for our meal due to the event, and (it was not busy) we were originally given a small table by a dark pillar. Very disappointing.

The ‘flies’! I appreciate hotel is in a rural location but there are gadgets used in other establishments which stop/reduce this annoyance!
There where dogs in hotel, not sure how people with allergic reaction, would fair in these circumstances!

The property and grounds are beautiful. Classic king rooms are very much on the small side but the bathrooms are a good size.
The service was not great, not knowledgeable on the menu or wine when asked. Not very attentive when courses worse finished, so much so we skipped dessert and had to ask the bar to settle up as there were no staff.
The hotel and staff were great
We went to a private function and the food (finger buffet) was ok overall - although rather uninspiring and with the worst lamb kebabs I’ve ever tasted.
A glass of Sauvignon Blanch was an eye watering £16.50 and, at that price, was nothing special.
