Down Hall Hotel

There is no doubt that the grounds of this hotel are spectacular but Down Hall is a perfect example of just how bad we are at hospitality in this Country. I have never stayed at a hotel before where the staff just completely disappear from the bar and restaurant! I've also have had better breakfast experiences at Premier Inn Hotels.

No air-conditioning or cooling for the rooms overnight when we stayed it was 14 degrees inside our room it was 26 we paid £258 to be stuck in a sweat box for the night.
Spoke to reception and all they did was give us a fan and a bottle of water

Absolutely amazing stay. Overarching theme was how incredibly friendly and helpful the staff were, especially in Eden Spa where we were so well looked after. A beautiful welcome birthday treat from the general manager was also a lovely touch. A leisurely walk through the kitchen garden and woodland trails topped off a memorable weekend birthday celebration. So delighted to have discovered this hidden treasure.

Wonderful experience from beginning to end to celebrate my sister’s 60th. All the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Stunning grounds to meander through and beautifully designed interior of the hotel. A gem of a find.

We got married here 2018 and been coming back for our anniversary but is will be the very last time we visit.
Friday we turn up early so went onto the terrace to have some drinks and food .
I a vegetarian ordered a vegetarian sandwich and I chicken sandwich was placed in front of me which the server dropped into my lap.
Then my drink came which was again spilled down me .
When it came to checking we was not shown to our master suite ( Liddell) or made aware that there was going to be a function the next night.
We paid of drinks to be awaiting a room
Which was missing glasses , when got send wine glasses instead of prosecco glasses.
The bath was dirty, which took two separate occasions for cleaning after I went down to reception myself.

Saturday night came and we had people constantly knocking on our door.
At dinner i was again served meat by a server with a cold and tissue in her hands.
Tired to go back to your room and went thought the party as wasn’t shown or told for any other way to access our room. Which caused a lot of embarrassment on our behalf.
Found a very rude manager as I want to get my point across and all he wanted to do is be very patronising and hush me into my room , where he actually witnessed people coming up outside our room from the party being held.

The way all maters were handled this weekend was absolutely shocking.
Giving guests some free drinks for a lack of service that you’re paying premium prices for is unacceptable.

During our third visit to Down Hall, we were once again enchanted by the experience. This time, we brought our little girl and invited the rest of the family, making it a truly special occasion.

From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their attentiveness and friendliness, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The elegance of the hotel is undeniable; everything from the decor to the immaculate grounds contributes to a lovely ambiance that feels both luxurious and cozy.

The dining experience was nothing short of superb. Each meal was beautifully presented and delicious.

A highlight of my stay was the spa, I indulged in a massage that ranks among the best I’ve ever had, leaving me feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.

Overall, Down Hall continues to be a standout destination for our family. We left with wonderful memories and are already looking forward to our next visit!

I liked the ambience of the hotel

Perfect location for a spa retreat. Beautiful mansion and gardens.

We got married at Down Hall on 23rd May, and from the moment we first viewed the venue, we knew it was the one. The venue is absolutely stunning, both inside and out, and the beautiful surroundings create the perfect wedding setting.

The entire experience from booking through to our wedding day was exceptional, and a huge part of that was thanks to Tracey, our wedding coordinator. From day one, she was incredibly supportive, accommodating, and always available to answer any questions, no matter how big or small. She made the whole planning journey feel effortless and enjoyable, taking away any stress we had along the way. What really stood out was how easy she was to get along with, it genuinely felt as though we had known her forever. She made not only us, but our families and guests feel completely comfortable and looked after. It was the little touches that meant so much, from checking in on us throughout the day to even carrying my handbag around and making sure it was at my seat when I needed it. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her.

The team on the day were equally fantastic. Rose and the catering staff were amazing, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that all our guests were well looked after. The wedding breakfast was absolutely delicious, and even now our guests are still commenting on how incredible the food was.

A very special mention has to go to Simon, the Toastmaster. He was outstanding from start to finish. Not only did he make us feel completely at ease throughout the day, but he also ensured everything ran like clockwork. It was one of the hottest days of the year, and he was constantly checking on us, making sure we had water and everything we needed. His attention to detail and genuine care helped make the day feel completely seamless.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect from start to finish. We spent the entire day smiling, knowing everything was being taken care of by such an incredible team in such a beautiful setting. We cannot recommend Down Hall highly enough to any couple looking for a truly special wedding venue.

The staff were sensational we came here the night after our wedding and the staff made our first day as a married couple unforgettable!!! We will never forget our stay from the sheer beauty and grandeur of the hotel, our upgraded suite the stunning views but absolutely the incredible staff !!

There aren't enough words to thank the team at Down Hall for giving us one of the most special moments of our lives.
My now-fiancé had been working with the team to plan his proposal, and from the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make it absolutely perfect. They arranged beautiful rose petals spelling out "Will You Marry Me?" in the room and surprised us with an upgrade to the incredible Lidell Suite. Walking into the room was breath taking.

What made it even more special was the thought that had gone into every detail. The reception team discreetly looked after our luggage downstairs so I wouldn't suspect a thing. The suite was filled with lovely touches, including champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and beautiful towel swans and petals on the bed.

The proposal itself was everything I could have hoped for and more - a moment that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. Knowing how much effort the team put in behind the scenes makes it even more meaningful.

The rest of our stay was equally wonderful. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner, delicious food and cocktails, in a wonderful relaxing atmosphere.

What will stay with us forever is the kindness and warmth shown by everyone at Down Hall.

A very special thank you to Hannah and Sarah for helping bring my fiancé's vision to life. What you created for us was far more than a beautiful room or a lovely stay—you helped create a memory that we will carry with us for a lifetime.

We went to the opening live music event on the lawn which was fantastic and we had a lovely friendly young lady called olivia looking after us all night which completed our wonderful evening!

Great service. Food wasn’t the best but they knocked it off the bill so was class. Great atmosphere. We was served by Merdan great service
