Phenomenal luxury with sensational staff
Pros:

The staff were sensational we came here the night after our wedding and the staff made our first day as a married couple unforgettable!!! We will never forget our stay from the sheer beauty and grandeur of the hotel, our upgraded suite the stunning views but absolutely the incredible staff !!

Fantastic evening at ibiza night
Pros:

We went to the opening live music event on the lawn which was fantastic and we had a lovely friendly young lady called olivia looking after us all night which completed our wonderful evening!

Amazing staff
Pros:

The hotel is very nice, but what made our stay excellent was the staff. From the outset when dealing with receptionist to the spa, restaurant and bar everyone was so kind, professional and welcoming. You can see they are happy in their work which creates a really nice atmosphere.

Lovely hotel in the heart of the Essex countryside
Pros:

Lovely hotel, sympathetically rennovated to a high standard. The food was excellent. It is a good location for the airport without being on the flight path. We would definitely stay there again.

Pros:

There was a couple of errors with my booking which the hotel could have cancelled. Instead they resolved without fuss and we enjoyed our stay. Thier whole team couldnt have offered better service

Luxury prices, disappointing service, ended in legal action
Pros:

Booked afternoon tea at Down Hall expecting the standard you would associate with a luxury hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish.

Service was poor throughout and staff attitude made the situation worse. There was an incident where tea and coffee were spilled during service, affecting the experience and leaving clothing smelling afterwards. Rather than handling the situation professionally, the response felt dismissive and poorly managed.

The food and drinks also did not reflect the premium price charged. For what should have been a special afternoon, the overall quality and service fell well below expectations.

I complained directly afterwards and gave the hotel opportunities to resolve matters fairly. Only a partial refund was offered, which I felt did not reflect what had happened. After repeated attempts to resolve the issue, I had to issue a county court claim, which Down Hall Hotel admitted in full and settled.

A hotel charging luxury prices should not deliver this level of service, and no customer should have to resort to legal action to be treated fairly.

Perfect Perfect Perfect
Pros:

We have just returned from the most incredible stay at Down Hall! We were recommended it highly by a friend and it lived up to every expectation! Our luggage was taken straight from the car to our room whilst we were checking in, even hanging our clothes up in the wardrobe! The terrace was the best and most beautiful experience, the best food and drink! Every aspect was wonderful and I can’t wait to return!

Absolutely STUNNING!
Pros:

Divine! Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous acres of lands, so much to see and do. Great place for kids, walks and playgrounds. Superb rooms with beautiful views, really friendly service. Went for a friends 40th, highly highly recommend. Food was delicious too. Thank you Down Hall. You are very special.

Wonderful Weekend with Friends!
Pros:

A fabulous experience from start to finish. A grand property in a green & lush woodland setting. The atmosphere, welcoming and warm. From front of house to bar. Interactions with all members of the team were genuine and friendly and always met with a smile.
We stayed in a wheelchair accessible room (309) with double aspect views, it was glorious. Wheel in shower and bathroom facilities were just right.
Noise level - 0. There was a wedding taking place and we really wouldn’t have known if we hadn’t seen it for ourselves. All taken place privately in a secluded setting just for the special ocassion.
General amenities were great. Although we didn’t get to the spa - we’ll be back to try that another time!
All in all - a wonderful weekend break with friends! We will be back !!
