Lovely hotel ..

Way too expensive for the offered service. Watch out to not book a 'backyard room'!
Pros:

Breakfast was very good, the rooms are clean and modern, as you would expect it from a 4 or 5 star hotel.

Cons:

The so-called "junior suite" we rented should honestly just be labelled a standard room. It is far too cramped to comfortably accommodate two children sleeping on the couch, and there is barely enough space to walk around the bed. I cannot see how this could reasonably be offered as a suite.

However, the aspect we found most disappointing was the view from the windows. For €1600 per night, I would certainly expect a room with a proper, usable window. Instead, the room we received had only two small windows looking out onto a tiny backyard, cluttered with pipes, fences and air conditioning units directly in front of us. We ended up keeping the blinds closed for our entire stay.

This was one of the most expensive rooms I have ever booked, and without a doubt, the most embarrassing.

Pros:

Fantastic huge room, great neighborhood.

Cons:

It's on a hill.
Well Rome is all hills, so...
And it gives you an incredible view from the rooftop.
But you have to climb it ;)

One lovely night and great location
Pros:

We'll be back. With limited time in Rome, hotel location is critical. The Roma Sofitel was just perfect after a really frantic day of sightseeing. We only had one night in Rome, it was important for us to be as close to the sights we wanted to see over two days.

We got to the hotel early leaving our bags in storage then a day of sightseeing. We got back in the evening to our room overlooking the Borghese gardens. Beautiful room lovely ensuite.

Dinner was easy, hotel restaurant top floor overlooking the Vatican. The food and service was wonderful. Tired we crashed on a very comfortable bed. Next morning we had an early breakfast in the same restaurant enjoying the view over Rome.

Finally we checked out while being able to stow our bags at the hotel for a late afternoon departure.

Our thanks to all the staff for making just our one night extremely pleasant and memorable.
