The lobby was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and accommodating
The room was old and rundown. The bathroom was stained and had a hole in the door. The shower was dingy and had terrible water pressure.
I stayed at the DoubleTree in Stamford, CT from June 8–11, 2026, while traveling for business, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing.
When I checked in, it was obvious that the hotel was undergoing renovations. I specifically asked the manager whether I should expect any inconveniences from the construction and was assured that I would be placed in an area where construction would not impact my stay.
While I understood that renovations were underway, the condition of my room was concerning. The bathroom was visibly worn, appeared poorly maintained, and had areas that looked as though they may have had mold or mildew buildup. It was clear that the room was overdue for renovation and a deeper level of cleaning.
The most significant issue occurred during the night of June 9. Around 2:00–3:00 a.m., the toilet began running continuously and would not stop. As a result, I was unable to get a good night’s sleep. To make matters worse, the television remote would not work because the batteries were dead.
The following morning, I spoke directly with the manager, explained the situation, and showed him photos of the bathroom condition. I told him I was willing to pay for my first night but requested a credit for the night impacted by the maintenance issues so I could check out early and move to another hotel. He agreed and told me that would not be a problem.
However, when I received my final bill, no credit had been applied.
After checking out, I moved to another hotel nearby and had a significantly better experience. Since then, I have called the DoubleTree on three separate occasions to discuss the billing issue. Each time I was directed to the manager’s voicemail, and none of my calls were ever returned.
The condition of the room was disappointing, but the lack of follow-through and communication was even more frustrating. Problems can happen at any hotel, especially during renovations. What matters is how management responds. In this case, I was promised a resolution that never happened, and multiple attempts to follow up were ignored.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this property until both the facility conditions and customer service improve.
Room service was sporadic. No coffee no toilet paper
Nice lobby area
The halls and rooms were terribly dirty and dated. Lots of stains on walls and upholstery, peeling paint, dirty grout. It was one of the worst hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in.
We had to stay here for a baseball tournament. It would not have been my choice based on the other reviews, but at least I was prepared for what the rooms would be like. They are unclean and outdated just as others have noted. Outdated I can handle, but a dirty room is unacceptable. The breakfast buffet is $24.95 per person but had the same runny imitation eggs you find at hotels with free breakfasts. It is super overpriced for what it is, so if you can, make other arrangements for breakfast. They do have a Starbucks that serves more than just coffee. The parking garage is another hassle because of the limited space. You must park there though because they are no other options. I paid $53.18 for two nights of parking, which is ridiculous. It should be half that amount. I will never stay here again (until forced).
This is an older hotel and there was a sign saying that renovations are coming soon. But one would expect that they would run a vacuum in the lobby and in the hallways. Also, there was a skunk smell, and I think there might’ve been a sewage problem as well because the lobby smelled. We found hair that wasn’t ours in several places in the bathroom.
Construction noise during the day, even changed rooms but still noise
After 6 pm room was fine
Remote for TV did not work either, could operate manually
Would be average without construction
Very dumpy compared to online photos and unprofessional front desk.
Dirty, old, unkept and did not disclose the construction zone. Loud toilets in room, and shower didn’t drain. Very unpleasant.
The PARKING is a BIG NO!!! Can't believe that I had to pay $25 per night to park after paying more than $200 a night to stay!!!
Paying for the parking. The garage parking space are rather small, and not enough.
The restaurant never brought my sons food for dinner. My dinner was undercooked.. The room was stained and dirty. The price of parking was insane.
Pool
No breakfast included
Some elevators were out.
The elevator was not working to the garage
We had to pay 25.00 for parking nightly
The pipes were making noise all through the night and couldn’t sleep.
Pipes were making noise throughout the night and we couldn’t sleep
Not enough towels were placed in our room
Not enough staff for the size of the hotel
The hotel is in a good location off 95.
We checked in late at 10 pm
We had five parties in front of us. Long
Garage was full! Had to park far away and pay for it. Just charge me an extra $25 for the room and make parking complimentary. Elevator in garage could use a realignment. Not level when reaching floors.
Room was fine. Nothing special
Light bulb was out in one lamp
Conditioner bottle wasn’t on wall.
One of the two bathroom hooks was missing.
People next door to us were loud in conversation.
Would I stay here again? Probably because of the location but a manager should review each room to make sure the little things aren’t missing
We did online checkout and bill was correct.
