Access to The Old Waverley requires climbing 27 steps to our first floor reception area. If you arrive with luggage there is a bell to call a porter to assist you.

The hotel has elevator access to every floor above reception, once you reach this level.

Die Lage des Hotels ist perfekt.
Der Service, die Mitarbeiter freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Bar/Lounge war gemütlich, ein gutes Angebot an Essen und Getränken, sehr fein.

Cons:

Das Zimmer bzw. die Lärmbelästung von draußen bis in die Nacht war unmöglich.
Wir bekamen ein anderes Zimmer, dass war okay.
Das tägliche Frühstück war immer englisch/schottisch, immer dasselbe. Etwas Abwechslung wäre schön gewesen.

Die zentrale Lage

Cons:

Mangelhafte Belüftung und extreme Hitze: Das Zimmer war viel zu klein und die Luftqualität im gesamten Gebäude extrem schlecht. Die Klimaanlage ließ sich nicht regulieren – sie lief entweder auf voller, eisiger Stufe oder überhaupt nicht. Das kleine Fenster zum Hinterhof ließ sich zudem nur etwa 15 cm öffnen, sodass kein Luftaustausch stattfand. Der Ausblick beschränkte sich dabei lediglich auf Vogel-Exkremente. Da unter dem Fußboden warme Rohre verliefen, staute sich die Hitze im Raum zusätzlich.Gesundheitliche Beeinträchtigung: Aufgrund der dauerhaft schlechten, stickigen Luft und der fehlenden Regulierungsmöglichkeiten der Klimaanlage welche leider eingeschaltet werden musste, erlitt ich während des Aufenthalts entzündete Augen und starke Kopfschmerzen.
Mängel im Badezimmer: Der Badezimmerlüfter welcher sich mit der Stromzufuhr automatisch einschaltete, war so laut, dass an Schlaf nicht zu denken war. Wir mussten die Stromzufuhr komplett unterbrechen, um den Lärm abzustellen. Zudem waren einige Fliesen teilweise beschädigt und die Armaturen veraltet.
Fehlende Ausstattung: Entgegen den üblichen Standards fehlte im Zimmer ein kleiner Kühlschrank.
Ausfall des Aufzugs: An einem Tag fiel der Hotelaufzug für eine geraume Zeit komplett aus. Da sich mein Zimmer im 5. Stock befand, war dies eine körperliche Belastung und eine erhebliche Einschränkung des Wohnkomforts. Keine Empfehlung!

Pros:

Comodissima posizione per muoversi a piedi e con i mezzi pubblici.
Camera silenziosa nonostante la posizione dell'hotel sulla strada principale Princes Street.

Cons:

Al momento della prenotazione ci era stato comunicato che la stanza aveva la finestra su spazio interno con vetri oscurati ma non immaginavamo che fosse quasi impossibile da aprire e vedere la luce del giorno. Consiglio di non prenotare questo tipo di stanza.

Hotellin sijainti oli erinomainen ja henkilökunta ystävällistä. Huone oli rauhallinen ja sängyt oli sijoitettu hyvin. Yleisessä oleskeluhuoneessa kelpasi istua drinkin ääressä.

We would definitely stay here again.
Pros:

Right on Princess Street one block from the Royal Mile. Easy access to everything, a beautiful ancient hotel. Delightful staff, wonderful meals in the tastefully decorated dining room. Scenic view from the coffee shop lounge.
