Access to The Old Waverley requires climbing 27 steps to our first floor reception area. If you arrive with luggage there is a bell to call a porter to assist you.

Beautiful old hotel in a great location.
Pros:

The breakfast was good. It would be nice to have a smaller option other than the buffet.

Cons:

We did not realize that the VAT added to hotel rooms would be 20% which, across 4 nights, added substantially to the cost of the room, making it much more expensive than the price that I agreed to at booking.

Good choice for a first time visit to Edinburgh.
Pros:

Location was excellent and close to transportation and beautiful landmarks. Breakfast room was elegant.

Cons:

Outside noises were irritating. Soundproof glass might ensure a better night’s sleep.

Great location and really nice place to stay
Pros:

Room was fantastic! View of Old Town and the Scott Monument. Comfortable bed and great bathroom with bathtub.

More warm options like pancakes for breakfast would have been great.

Pros:

La ubicación es estupenda. Cerca de la estación y fácil conexión con aeropuerto. También está cerca de todas las atracciones que hay que ver de la ciudad a pie. La habitación era muy amplia y tenía vistas al castillo.

Olde world charm right in the heart of Edinburgh, across the road from the station.
Pros:

Historic and quaint.

Cons:

Lack of stairs to the reception area, it the staff cheerfully came and took our heavy bags up for us.

Pros:

It was convenient

Cons:

No lift to the first floor. Old windows rattled at night and bathroom door could only close if locked from inside. Major renovations going on and drilling starting at 7am on Friday/ 8 on Saturday and bins/ glasses being emptied at 6am Sunday and hoovering at 8am
