Room. Upgraded due to disabity needs. .uch appreciatiated.
Staff fantastic will definitely return.
I was really impressed with Riverside Lodge. The reception/lounge and bar areas are excellent with lots of booths and comfortable seating around coffee tables making it easy for small groups to get together without feeling crowded.
There are a number of TV screens in these areas but they are thoughtfully placed and not intrusive. I was visiting for five nights during the latter stages of the World Cup and whilst the matches were on it was nice to be able to dip in and out of them without feeling that I was in a sports bar.
Riverside is a popular wedding venue and there were weddings in the separate function room on both the Friday and Saturday during my stay. Obviously this makes for a busier time in the bar and lounge area but it certainly didn't feel crowded.
Our ground floor twin room was smart, comfortable and just like the photos with very effective blackout curtains. I found the beds particularly good and I slept very well each night. The shower had plenty of water pressure.
The property is well situated just off the A78 which made for an easy 40 minute drive to Glasgow Airport and 20 minutes to the Arran ferry at Ardrossan. Irivine town centre and Harbourside are just a few minutes drive.
Wasn't so keen on the evening entertainment in the reception/lounge area which was only on one night. Good singer but loud enough to be intrusive even towards the bar.
Location is very central and within walking distance of Irvine shops & bars.
Sadly the room we were initially allocated had not been thoroughly cleaned. Smelly socks found behind curtain.
However to be fair when issue reported receptionist upgraded room immediately.
Drinks are quite expensive.
Loved the spotlessly clean room. All staff were ever so friendly.
Menu. It was same one since our previous visit in May. Husband got lamb roast one night and it was as tough as old boots. Told waitress but he was not allowed something else or any discount off meal. Let down.
Reception/lounge area lovely. Hotel clean, staff lovely. Room great size and clean, great size bath towels. Thursday evening entertainment great.
Refurbishment completed or almost completed on lower floor, unfortunately that was some time ago and the room we stayed in on the upper floor (and have stayed there every year) have yet to be fully refurbished, as in the ensuite - shower very slow and furnishings looking a bit tired, not sure if they will be refurbished in the future.
Normally food is good, however disappointed in breakfast - no veggie sausages and the potato scones were fried and left out too long, therefore I had egg and a few mushrooms, didn’t have breakfast again for the rest of our stay.
I stay fairly often and breakfast normally good, I think this was just a blip, and I would definitely stay again as it’s the best hotel in Irvine.
The hotel is ideally situated for the purpose of my visit. My elderly frail brother lives nearby and as I live near Cambridge I have to stay for a few days. It is also in a very attractive location
The reception I received upon my arrival. I was 3 hours early and was asked if I’d requested early check in I was unsure as I’d been in Cumbria the days before my arrival and the mobile signal was poor. Then to be told there was a £10 per hour fee to be paid and as I was 3 hours early I had to pay £30. I was stunned . When I enquired if my room was ready it wasn’t!! Therefore no issue. I fully expected to be charged for storing my small case but I wasn’t.

Lovely hotel

Location and staff were friendly
Asked for our 2 rooms to be near to each other and they couldn’t have been further away! Rooms on different floors and about 14 rooms difference.
Sadly our Mother is recently widowed and needed some security and feel safe. We gave plenty of notice for rooms to be near to each other, but felt like our request was ignored. Nothing happened when we mentioned this at check in?
