A memorable experience - for all the right reasons
Pros:

Rusacks is very well located next to The Old Course and a 10 minute walk into the town centre. The West Sands beach is a similar distance in the opposite direction. The building has a lot of character and is very well appointed with a lot of character both in the original part and more recent restaurant additions. Our two rooms were very different, one being fairly small and dark, the other, a corner room, a lot larger and brighter, overlooking the street at the front. Although this second one was a free upgrade. Really comfortable beds in both though. We dined in two restaurants in the hotel and the food was excellent in both cases, with the rooftop 18 Restaurant being particularly memorable for the excellent tomahawk steak and sorbets. Breakfast was excellent too, with a wider than usual choice on the menu, and was served at the table rather than being a buffet. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, Lauren and Kelsey being the two names we did get, but all were exceptional and clearly tried hard to deliver service appropriate to the surroundings and overall quality. Our dog was made to feel very welcome and was able to dine with us in one part of the hotel, which was a great bonus. Lastly, free parking was easy to find on the street behind the hotel.

Cons:

The lift was very slow to appear, the stairs were usually quicker. We would have preferred a choice of biscuits and/or shortbread rather than the Tunnocks Tea cakes supplied on the hospitality tray. But that's about it.

Overall very good stay and would definitely stay again.
Pros:

Excellent position. Very good staff. Extremely comfortable hotel.

Cons:

We think room service should go on later than 10pm. We had arranged pizzas from the Bridge for 9pm but were delayed on the Old Course and were told the kitchen closed at 9. As it happened we got in just before 10pm and managed to get a pizza before room service closed for the night

Overall, solid place to visit, just remember to leave for good local food and drinks until adjusted
Pros:

Stunning views, great rooms, superb staff — The professionalism from Harris and Nelly was outstanding.

Cons:

The food was unsatisfactory — it didn’t seem locally sourced, only time I’ve had digestion issues in Scotland.

The rooftop bar had no local beer or drinks.

You win with location but the room fittings nead attention as do your guests
Pros:

The location and rooftop bar are fab

Cons:

You asked if this was a special occasion and it was it was my wife’s birthday. The girl at the bar even asked and knew but there was no birthday greetings so why bother to ask if nothing comes back? The room was good but the bathroom hook on door was wobbly and the door handle was too. It’s a black handle fitting and has tried to be secured with cheap bright screws and is still wobbly. As for breakfast you have to catch folks attention for more coffee, could be a wee bit more attentive… oh at the bar we had a reserved table on the balcony but I had to ask that they wipe it clean.. and maybe you could advise guests that you have to order at the bar and there is no table service … I give this feedback in good faith and I hope it helps you improve for what is a rather expensive experience for many as it was for me too😊

Amazing stay at Rusacks
Pros:

We arrived at Rusacks for a 3 night stay and had an amazing room overlooking the 1st & 18th fairways of the Old Course at St Andrews Links.
The staff here could not have been more helpful from Michaela on reception, Jamie the excellent concierge and Sam at Rao’s.
Breakfast in the Bridge restaurant was excellent as was lunch on the Rooftop Terrace.
Rao’s has opened its 1st restaurant out of the US and we had the most amazing Meatballs followed by veal ragu and topped off by the most amazing baked cheesecake. What a meal and definitely recommend
