Beautiful old building, in a nice and central location. Lovely staff. The bar and café downstairs is great as well.
Sound proofing isnt the best. Can hear cars and the lift from inside room. European in that sense.
Didn’t bother me, but bring earplugs to sleep just in case.
Character hotel in the heart of Brisbane - comfortable beds and great for a night away.
Our home away from home, this quirky little hotel is situated in a terrific spot being pretty much walking distance to everything. The bar is fabulous, the food amazing and the staff are always going above and beyond. Another lovely visit.
The mattress in our room
I love this hotel - 2nd time staying there, and even better than the first time (which was 2017). The original art deco features are gorgeous, the old stairwell and lift ooze class and history, yet it is mixed with a good dose of modernity - eg. David Bowie plate in a reception display. Great bar, yummy food in the morning (nuts, fresh pastries, fruit), and the location is unbeatable - 30 seconds to central train station, and minutes walk into Queen St Mall. Love and will stay again.
Had the best nights sleep here during my six week trip up the East Coast! We stayed in the city view room (which we didn't really make the most of) but loved how huge and comfy the bed was. The room was clean, bright and just what we needed. The complimentary (barista made) morning coffee was a nice touch, and they even had a Polaroid photo album for guests to add a photo to which made our experience a memorable one. Would 100% recommend, staff super friendly.
A note or sign to direct us to the mini fridge and coffee station would have been fab as we didn't think to open the furthest wardrobe until just before check out!!
The hotels reception are bar areas are amazing however this is were it stops
Apart from the entrance and bar areas the rest of the hotel looks tired and old. Carpets very worn lots of stains everywhere.
We booked a city suite room for our stay to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. I made a request for flowers and Champaign to be in the room for when we arrive as a gift for my wife. The hotel replied to this request and confirmed they will organise this, I was happy to pay any additional charges to have this done. Upon check in we arrived and no flowers or champagne, I followed up with reception, unfortunately no flowers had been organised but they gave us a bottle of champagne. The room was not very clean, lots of dust in the room and the shower head was thick with dust from years of not cleaning. This was very visible from the bathroom mirror reflection. Wall paper is pealing off the walls in areas, past carpet cleaning has stained most of the carpet pattern a shade of green/blue throughout most of the hotel. Our room didn't get serviced during our stay as the cleaners did not come round until late in the evening and we had already returned to the room to sleep so no clean towels for us that day. No breakfast available just a small coffee voucher and 1 pastry on offer. Overall not what I was expecting for a 5 star hotel in the middle of Brisbane city.
Lovely Hotel with old world charm
The sofa was stained and uncomfortable. It was also too small to seat all 4 guests so one of us had to sit on the floor while trying to enjoy our stay. Other than that the place was great.
Loved the old world feel
Exceptional bed and showers. Hotel style is classy. Good view.
Hotel staff is awful.
Lovely Deco vibe. Rooms are quirky and spacious. Great little bar downstairs with lovely, friendly staff. The elevator is particularly cool as it has been restored with beautiful features kept from the original.
A few little run down aspects that need maintenance. I did find a cigarette lighter in the pocket of my bathrobe. (Which was a little disconcerting with regard to it having been freshly laundered before me!)
We loved the decor and location. Beds were super comfy. Hotel had a great vibe!
Like all city hotels price hikes happen when events are on. We paid over $600 for one night while State of Origin was on. Normal
Nights are about a third of the price.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Shout out for Brooke, who went above and beyond to arrange a birthday gift for my wife. Rooms were spacious and food was excellent.
The bathroom and some of the room decor was a little tired. Just needed refreshing
I like the vintage aesthetics. Room was spacious and clean.
