I've booked a room here on several occasions. The rooms were always clean, and tidy. Beds were nice and comfortable..

Cons:

We had an issue with the door, the door handle was broken, so they switched us to another room.

We arrived at midnight after traveling from Arizona, and when we got there, they didn't have a room for four people—which was what I had booked. The man treated us terribly and told me, "I don't have a room with two beds; that's it." At that hour, after a five-hour drive, my husband and I had to sleep on the floor so our children could sleep in the bed. I paid the same price as for a two-bed room but only got one.

Great location and all we needed was a place to lay our head at night. Staff was wonderful.
Pros:

Room was clean but smelled a little musky. No thrills breakfast. Consisted of waffles and cereal. But just what was advertised, a continental breakfast. Location is great for multi activities to mission bay, SeaWorld, and Balboa Park. 5 minute drive to each of them.

Cons:

Time to change the carpets in the room.

I would especially like to thank the entire reception team. Every staff member I interacted with was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Their positive attitude and attentiveness truly enhanced my time in the city.
However, the main reason for this letter is to share something that deeply touched my heart. During my stay, I accidentally lost my diamond wedding earring in the room. This piece of jewelry holds immense sentimental value for me as a precious reminder of one of the happiest days of my life. I was devastated, thinking I would never see it again.
To my great surprise and immense relief, your housekeeper, Ms. Maria Diaz, found the earring and made sure it was safely returned to me. Her honesty, care, and integrity are truly admirable. In today’s world, encountering such exceptional character is both rare and inspiring.
This thoughtful act confirmed that your hotel stands out not only for its comfort and excellent service, but also for its trustworthiness and strong values. I felt completely safe and cared for throughout my stay.
I also greatly appreciated the hotel’s convenient location. Being so close to public transportation, including train and bus stations, made exploring San Diego effortless. It is also within easy reach of SeaWorld San Diego, popular shopping areas, restaurants, and many of the city’s main attractions.
I will never forget this kind gesture. Please convey my deepest thanks to Ms. Maria Diaz and the entire front desk team for making my stay so special and memorable.

I will never stay at a Howard Johnson Horel again
Pros:

Run down and dirty

Cons:

The outside didn’t feel safe and it was down on the outside. The room was awful. It smelled horrible and not cleaned very well. The tv and fridge looked like a fire hazard where it was plugged in.

I like that it was close to SeaWorld and the beach

Cons:

The handles to everything was dirty. I had to wipe down the room. The AC unit was disgusting. Inexpensive doesn't have to be dirty. I would have preferred a room inward versus on the outside I had mentioned I was traveling with my two underage daughters and that would make me feel a little more secure.

Will not stay again
Pros:

It was nice being close to Sea World.

Cons:

Our FIRST room had mold that could be seen and smelled. They moved us to a SECOND room that smelled of marijuana and the water in the bathtub kept running. There were sharp tacks coming up from the carpet. On our second night there, there was a drug raid with 10 police cars with the police having their AR-15 out. There are a lot of homeless people in the area and strip clubs.

Pros:

I feel the breakfast should have given us more choices to choose from. Incorporated some fruit or yogurts. How about some bagels ? Would have been good as well.

Pros:

It had two beds and we were able to get a bottom floor room.

Cons:

Continental Breakfast was a JOKE. The staff doubled charged us and caused us to have to cancel our card. I wouldn’t recommend nor would I stay there again.
