SpringHill Suites by Marriott Waterford / Mystic

We booked and paid for a Queen Suite with 2 Queen Beds for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). Our stay was an absolute nightmare:
​Health Hazard (Room 305): Upon arrival, room 305 had an intolerable, toxic odor of mold. It was unsafe for children to breathe. We had to wake up our sleeping children late at night (around 9:15 PM) to demand a room change.
​Downgrade & Severe Inconvenience (Room 323): The replacement room provided contained ONLY ONE BED instead of the two beds we paid for. The hotel failed to provide extra beds or adequate sleeping arrangements.
​Inhumane Conditions: Fortunately, we had a portable travel crib in our car for one child, but our second child was forced to SLEEP ON THE FLOOR on a mattress/blanket!
​Horrible Management & Ignored Complaints: At checkout, the front desk refused to assist or issue a refund, claiming the General Manager (Zachary) was unavailable. We emailed GM Zachary and contacted Booking.com customer support, but both completely ignored our emails and messages.
​Paying $205 to have a child sleep on the floor due to mold hazards and a room downgrade is completely unacceptable. We are forced to dispute this charge through our credit card. Avoid this hotel at all costs!

Couch in room was very old and worn out.

We were on the first floor and would ask for an upper level floor next time because the cars parked outside were right outside our window. It was noisy when cars came and went. The beds were uncomfortable. The AC was really loud so I had trouble sleeping.

Property and facilities were very run down. The rooms are in need of a refresh.

Shower had black stuff on wall. Beds hard. Breakfast not great

Run down interior. Loud fans in hallways all night probably due to damage but not told about, uncomfortable beds, peeling paint in bathroom, lukewarm shower temperature

Our room was a disaster, curtains were ripped and hanging down thus not able to close, dark stains on the carpet near the sink, moldy peeling paint in the bathroom etc. The outside is worn down and some windows have a permanent opaqueness. The property looks very tired.

The only thing about our visit that I wanted to comment on re: an improvement, is that the hot food offerings on the breakfast buffet was cold: the pancakes, bacon and potatoes temperature wise were below lukewarm. I could not eat it.

Rooms were not updated, one light shade in room 113 was torn, the furniture in my daughter’s room had scratches on it. The price was too high!

The furniture in the room.. light fixtures, toilet paper holder were not secure despite appearing that way. The TV was not a standard TV where you had a guide and had to push the channel button up and down..
