Basic, not clean, wouldnt recommend but staff are friendly

Location is close to the station. Staff were friendly and helpful

Cons:

Our room bin had someone else’s beer cans in (not what you expect to see when you arrive in a family room with our child). The room was dirty and had stains all over the carpet.
Furniture was really old and falling apart (photo). The windows didn’t shut properly and rattled all night in the wind.
The building was completely dated and had cob webs and dust all over the ceilings and banisters. And the corridor to our room stunk of cannabis.

Very dated but the information provided forewarned me well to expect that which helped. Unfortunately we had noisy neighbours at 4am but the hotel did provide earplugs which helped.

Did the job
Pros:

Basic city centre hotel. Has what you need for a couple of nights stay.
Large rooms, with reasonable decoration, a little bit tired round the
edges. Obviously been a splendid hotel in it's day, but things change.
Nice big free carpark, a bit awkward to get to, signage could be improved

It was handy from the train station and close to town centre and bus stop for the infirmary,,and the staff were very helpful for letting us store our luggage till was time for checkin and when we checked out and while we were at the hospital from having surgery

Simple and cheap night stay in Carlisle
Pros:

the property was central and a great location, staff were friendly

Cons:

The room was way too hot and no air con, it had a small fan which was awful, no hair dryer or iron although I did ask at reception and got one
