Great location and easy to get around the city
Loud because of the train and we lost hot water 1 morning. The hot water was restored later that evening.
We had an amazing stay at the Silversmith Hotel in downtown Chicago. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience. Beverly was so nice, helpful and funny. She is definitely a gem. Enrique the bellman, was also so pleasant and was there in a blink to help whenever needed with a smile every time. Renee the bartender was also great. She made the best cocktails and was also super friendly. Kristopher the front door manager was efficient in fixing a billing problem that occurred for us as well. It was our first time in Chicago and we would definitely stay there again when we come back. Kudos to the amazing staff that you have at your hotel!
The staff was very accommodating, especially Beverly and Enrique! The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The exercise room came in handy and room services were easy to use. The location was perfect for us, accessible to the trains and walking distance to the water and parks.
Great location, clean and helpful staff
The location is great but the hotel room was terrible. The room had zero ventilation, it smelled weird and always felt dirty and a bit humid/damp even with the a/c on. The sheets had stains on them that looked like blood. The ceiling had mold. And we saw a cockroach in the lobby bathroom. Won't be returning.
We stayed 4 nights. Location was perfect! Right near the trains station (if you don’t want to uber), great restaurants and attractions! Most of the staff was super friendly. Particularly Susan. Always had cold waters for us after our excursions, and was very informative and thorough with any questions we had. The only issue I’d mention was it was hard to get ahold of a staff member when we had a plumbing issue around 9pm. We asked for a sheet change, and my bed/sheets had sand/dirt in them. Other than that, great time, great security and we would book again!
The only good thing about this hotel was Beverly! If she isn't a manager, she should be or she should be really taken care of because she saved my trip with ease, class, and grace. If you're looking for a nice place to stay, you can find better for the same price, as a local Chicagoan. Just go for the Palmer or the Hilton close by.
I had to change my room twice - once for broken locks (happens and wasn't an issue at the time), but then they upgraded me to a suite and it was filthy! Wallpaper coming off the walls, fire alarm ripped off wall, window was looking out to another window, and the bed literally dipped in the middle and the pillows were flattened (I'm a small woman), a large dark stain on the couch, so many stains on the carpets....so in the morning, Beverly personally checked another room while I was at work and it was fine the rest of the week. She was so kind she even had slippers in the room for me and made everything better. I've never had to do this at a hotel so many times and ask so much, but for what they advertise and the "4 star" rating they give themselves I was shocked. I'm a very low maintenance guest but I felt so high maintenance the entire time because of how icky everything was.
The hotel itself is not great... all the furniture is extremely dated and honestly weird. Horrible shape and not taken care of well at all. It needs massive renovations and money put into it. I would be honestly embarrassed if I ran and owned this place because it's giving cheapy motel trying to be a nice place. The location is great though for tourists and Beverly is a star. But just stay somewhere else if you're reading this, trust.
