Location, friendliness and value!
Pros:

Absolutely perfect location directly adjacent to the “EL” for downtown shopping and museum visits. 10-12 minutes to the miracle mile and close to parks, etc. the staff are welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed with plenty of plugs AND a nice shower with great water pressure and heat! We look forward to visiting the Silversmith again!

Cons:

Location and staff! The valets are extremely helpful

I needed a place near Grant Park and this place was just perfect for me.
Pros:

Very friendly staff. I mean all personnel. Day and night. The room was clean and cold which is great. I could hear the train, but I no way did it bother me. It’s muffled in the perfect way.

Cons:

Not sure there was anything.

Pros:

The room had everything necessary. The bed was comfortable. The window faced the inner courtyard. That was actually better, as an outside window might have faced the metro line—which is typical for downtown Chicago. The hotel's location is superb.

Cons:

Nothing worth paying attention to.

Great location, staff & value
Pros:

Stayed for 6 nights late May/early June. Absolutely Perfect location. 5 mins to Bean & Millenium park & Riverwalk, 10 minutes to Lake Michigan and Magnificent Mile, Loop trains right outside front door. Hotel was very clean and beds were super comfortable. Free Lavazza coffee in the morning plus we got a voucher for one free drink per day. Bar was nice. We did order a pizza one evening which was great. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Housekeeping did a great job keeping our room and towels always fresh. Special shoutout to Beverly in reception who always gave us a warm greeting and provided some great sightseeing tips and to Enrique for help with our bags. A few close by eateries - Goddess and the Baker right across the street was great for breakfast and The Gage one block over was excellent for dinner. Also Cindy’s rooftop (beside the Gage) had excellent views of the park & lake. Would definitely recommend this hotel

Great experience
Pros:

We have stayed at Silversmith several times a year for the past few years whenever we stay in Chicago. The location is great for easy access to trains, Millennium Park, great restaurants and shopping. The hotel is always clean, quiet and comfortable. A special shout out to Beverly, the hotel clerk who always greets us warmly and remembers us by name from previous visits. She goes the extra mile to make sure we have a pleasant visit. We look forward to seeing her on our next trip to our home away from home.

Not very good
Pros:

We chose this hotel because it had a sofa bed and we wanted to share the room with friends (there were four of us). Resale sites advertise this room for four adults, which is impossible. The beds are small, and the sofa is in terrible condition (even sitting on it was uncomfortable). When we asked to change rooms, we were told they were all like that. It was very difficult for four people to sleep in small beds without being able to use the sofa because we could feel the mattress springs. The hotel is extremely well located, the staff is friendly, and the rooms are spacious. We were offered a blanket to improve comfort, but it was far too thin.
