**An Unforgettable Stay – JW Marriott**

We had an incredible stay at JW Marriott and cannot recommend it highly enough. The entire team was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout.
The amenities were outstanding — the gym, pool, and the breakfast spread at the restaurant were all excellent.
A special shoutout to Juan, the chef at the lounge, and Isaac, the server, who both went above and beyond. Juan took it upon himself to create delicious vegetarian dishes and Isaac was very attentive, it just shows a great culture amongst the hotel staff.
A personal highlight: Juan's ahi sauce was one of the best I have ever tasted. When I mentioned this, he kindly printed out the recipe for me — such a generous and memorable touch.
This is the kind of hospitality that turns a great stay into an unforgettable one.

Decepcionante experiencia para un hotel de cinco estrellas

Lo que más me gustó fue la ubicación del hotel y la comodidad general de la habitación. Sin embargo, mi experiencia no fue la esperada para un hotel de cinco estrellas. El servicio dejó mucho que desear, solo dejaron dos botellas de agua en la habitación y hubo que pedir más. Además, no pudimos ver el Mundial en la habitación; solo estaba disponible en el bar, donde obviamente había que consumir. También tuvimos inconvenientes con el depósito de la tarjeta, ya que hicieron una retención alta y aún estamos pendientes de la liberación de una diferencia. En general, esperaba una atención y una experiencia mucho mejores.

Cons:

El servicio fue decepcionante para un hotel de cinco estrellas. Solo dejaron dos botellas de agua en la habitación y tuvimos que solicitar más. La calefacción de la piscina la apagaron alrededor de las 5:30 p. m., por lo que ya no era agradable disfrutarla al final de la tarde. El bar de la piscina solo atendía hasta las 5:00 p. m., lo que limitaba mucho la experiencia. Además, las tiendas dentro del hotel no abren los domingos. Tampoco pudimos ver el Mundial desde la habitación; solo lo transmitían en el bar, donde había que consumir. Por si fuera poco, hicieron una retención muy alta en la tarjeta de crédito como depósito y, al hacer el check-out, todavía estaba pendiente la devolución de parte de ese dinero. En general, esperaba un nivel de servicio y atención mucho mejor para un hotel de esta categoría.

Nice hotel with great staff
Pros:

Nice hotel with great staff. Good selection of restaurants & excellent breakfast buffet. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi & garden area. Quito old town tour was very interesting & the centre of the earth monument about an hour away. We also did a private tour to Mindo Cloud Forest to feed the wild Hummingbirds from our hands which was wonderful & about 2 hours away - arranged by the hotel reception.

A wonderful stay in Quito
Pros:

As a hotelier with an extensive luxury hospitality background, I rarely take the time to write reviews unless a team truly delivers something exceptional — and the team at JW Marriott Hotel Quito absolutely did.
From the moment I arrived, I felt the difference in service culture. Ysubel at the Front Desk was genuinely outstanding and honestly reminded me of my days with The Ritz-Carlton. Her attention to detail, warmth, professionalism, and natural ability to personalize the guest experience were world-class. She consistently used my name throughout the stay, anticipated needs before I even had to ask, and what impressed me most was how she physically stepped out from behind the desk to personally hand over my room keys and welcome me properly. Those may sound like small details to some, but in luxury hospitality, those details define the entire experience.
You can train procedures, but genuine hospitality and emotional intelligence cannot be taught easily — and Ysubel clearly possesses both. Marriott should take very good care of her, otherwise I may have to bring her to the United States and recruit her for my own hotel operations.
I also want to recognize Front Desk Manager Luis, who elevated the stay from excellent to truly memorable. From the very first pre-arrival email I received, his communication was polished, proactive, and incredibly attentive. Throughout my visit, he remained fully engaged in ensuring every detail was handled flawlessly. At one point, I needed transportation to visit a local friend, and Luis personally coordinated the hotel vehicle, ensured the driver had the exact address and directions, and handled everything with the kind of precision and ownership you typically only see in top-tier luxury properties.
What impressed me most about both Luis and Ysubel was not just professionalism, but genuine pride in service. Their ability to create warmth while maintaining luxury standards is exactly what separates great hotels from unforgettable ones.
The property itself is beautiful, but people like Ysubel and Luis are the real reason guests return. Marriott International is very fortunate to have individuals like them representing the JW Marriott brand in Quito.
