Beautiful hotel located in a stunning historic bank building. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by friendly and smiling doormen, with a special mention to the porter from Kenya who was exceptionally warm and welcoming.
Although our room was not ready at 11 a.m., we quickly received a text message once it became available while we were exploring the city. The room was elegant, romantic, and very comfortable. The bathroom amenities were outstanding and among the best I've experienced.
The front desk agent who checked us in was highly professional, friendly, and efficient. The gym was also excellent and very well equipped.
Breakfast at Riggs Café was delicious. The Egg Royal was probably the best I've ever had. Overall, the hotel offers a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful design, and excellent facilities.
Our room faced the back of the hotel, which meant there was very little natural light. We were also not offered an upgrade.
The biggest disappointment was the breakfast service. While the food itself was excellent, the service was surprisingly poor and not at the level expected from a luxury hotel. The staff seemed slow and disengaged despite there being more employees than guests. I ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice and waited 20 minutes without receiving it. After asking again, I was assured it was on the way, but we eventually left after another 30 minutes without ever receiving the order.
The quality of the food was outstanding, but the breakfast service needs significant improvement.
Centrally located
Nothing
Very personals ervice - people remembered who you are from first meeting
The hotel was well-located, just across the street from the Smithsonian American Art Museum and located in a small lively shopping area. The decor of the hotel was unique and fun, and the rooms were clean. Service was great. All round a luxurious and fun stay.
We celebrated our wedding here and can't recommend the hotel or venue more highly! The staff are truly fantastic, the pinnacle of hospitality. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I recommend eating at the Cafe and having a drink at the Silver Lyan. The vibe is classic but not old-fashioned. The location is in the middle of Chinatown in downtown, DC. It is immediately across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum and within sight distance of the Capital One Arena.
Rooms are beautiful, sparkling clean, and quiet (despite being in the middle of town!).
Finally, the quiche is one of the best I've ever eaten.
I really wanted to love this hotel as the property is beautiful, but unfortunately service falls off. From the beginning to the end we had terrible experiences with the staff: when we checked in the front desk employee was rude and unhelpful- more concerned about moving on to the next guest than assist us. Then during breakfast at the restaurant, the manager told us that waiting time for a table was “two hours” - which was clearly made up as there were several open tables that never filled up (I guess he wanted to “save” those for customers without breakfast included like us….) Then waiting time for food or any service was super long given that they were short staffed or hired inexperienced employees. I really hope they improve their service quality and professionalism pmas these made my stay quite unpleasant and unwilling to go back.
Great location … Cafe Riggs was a nice spot for breakfast and drinks
Our room was a little dark … lighting needs to be improved
emplacement, beauté des lieux :du hall, café
personnel absolument pas aimable , présentation un peu mensongère , le rooftop n'est absolument pas ouvert aux clients,
We had a great time at the Riggs hotel. Staff was very friendly. Mr. D.C. (the bell captain) knows all there is to know about D.C. and where to eat. He is extremely helpful and friendly. Honestly, the staff here made the entire trip much more enjoyable.
I booked my room through the Amex "The Hotel Collection" and it was definitely one of the nicest hotels and stays we had in DC for the last 10 years. We were upgraded from an Atelier Suite to one of the First Lady Suites and it was gorgeous! The room looked just as great as it did in the pictures. Probably even better because of all the sunlight coming into the room. My wife was so impressed. We had communicated with Latoya, from Concierge beforehand and she was able to get items delivered to the room upon our arrival and before we made it in the room. Coach took our bags to the room and was very personable and friendly. EVERYONE that we interacted with from the bartenders at Cafe Riggs to our bartender and wait staff at Silver Lyan were all 5 stars. I was also able to use my cell phone to text with the front desk to get breakfast in bed delivered to my wife as a surprise. We will definitely be coming back to the Riggs.
This is a 5 Star Large Hotel, but has the feel of a boutique hotel. We stayed for two days and by the afternoon, the doormen knew my name and welcomed me back by name whenever we came back to the Hotel. We were also given plenty of complimentary champagne whether in the Cafe and when welcomed back to the hotel. If you are thinking about staying here, you won't regret it.
My experience at the Riggs Hotel was exceptional. The bell captain, Garnett, made me feel welcome with his warm demeanor and attention to detail. I was surprised by and immensely grateful for the welcome champagne and kind note that was sent to my room! The rooms are beautifully decorated with an appreciation for the history of Riggs Bank (a fascinating, storied, and uniquely DC building). I highly recommend. I will be returning to enjoy more of what the hotel has to offer!
The Riggs is a beautiful historic hotel. The location is close to everything and it feels very safe. The staff is very professional and welcoming . Our bed and pillows were heavenly. We had dinner at the elegant Riggs restaurant and it was delicious. The restaurant staff was exceptional.
Just some honest observations: Our lovely room was small but for two nights it was all we needed. The bathroom had minimal counter space.
