I’m a member at the spa. The experience today was even more delightful than usual. The sauna was at a perfect temperature and, as always, the changing room was spotless. Thanks to Dawid and the team
Stayed here one night, having reserved through the Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts program. From the moment I entered I felt welcomed. The front desk staff were friendly and chatty in a way that was genuine and not forced. I mentioned a local reservation I had and they checked with concierge for his opinion on that, just to make sure it would be what I was expecting. Bed very comfortable, no street or hallway noise, strong wi-fi. No wait to check in or check out.
The FH&R program includes a complimentary upgrade, free breakfast, an on-site credit, a welcome amenity, and early check-in / late check-out. I took advantage of early check-in and staff walked me through all of this. I was offered an upgrade but declined, as the standard room was very comfortable and met my needs. I used the on-site credit at the Baba restaurant, which was excellent. Breakfast buffet was very good and staff there were excellent. I was offered late check-out but didn't need it. The welcome gift came with a handwritten card from one of the check-in staff, which I appreciated.
As I said above, I felt truly welcome here, one of my favorite hotel experiences ever!
My wife and I hosted our post ceremony wedding dinner in the private dining space here at The Kimpton and it was perfect! The food was provided by the Baba restaurant next door and was wonderful value for money, everyone left full and happy! The staff both on the night and on the lead up to it were incredibly attentive. We almost had to completely change the plan rather late minute and the staff took this in their stride and were prepared to accommodate with very little notice. "The cellar" had its own bar and area to hang jackets etc which was very much appreciated. If you are looking for a place to host a private event that is central, welcoming and adaptable then I recommend you get in touch with The Kimpton!
We oved the room, location and hotel facilities. It seemed casual luxury, informal and very comfortable. Concierge also excellent.
The breakfast content was very good. However, the staff were disorganised, without a team leader and service was rather arbitrary. The food was very good , but given it was buffet format it was very disappointing that the table service element was so poor.
Reception staff were hit and miss. Some seemed well trained and confident, some barely had any idea how to do their role at all. Given that reception is your first point if contact and essentially creates your first impression of the hotel and experience, it simply wasn't good enough, particularly when you're paying over £500 per night. Clearly , as with breakfast , staff training is inadequate.
Beautiful hotel with lovely friendly staff. Special thanks to Garry (concierge) for relieving stress and making us feel so welcome. He went above and beyond to help us with our car parking. We also enjoyed complementary drinks in the garden bar which was a nice touch. We hope to return in the future.
I loved the vibe of Kimpton. Its very welcoming and the staff are lovely - so helpful and quick to respond to any request! The property is beautifully designed and well kept, and the location is excellent. It's a pleasure to stay there. The restaurant and the breakfast areas are both very good - highly recommended!
I have stayed here twice now. The first room was perfectly set out with everything you need. It wasn't available for the second stay, but the alternative room was still okay. It was a little dark in some areas - perhaps an extra light would be good.
The location
The room was very noisy beside a service room. The staff used this room always even at night time sometimes at 2 and 3 am. I could not sleep from slapping the door and moving things inside and outside.
I like it and not much complaint about this hotel. The service level is alright, and everything else are okay. No special things to mention but good location and okay room to stay. The parking close to hotel or uber/lyft area is far, and also some restrictions to the hotel. Overall, it's alright but I couldn't think of anything special.

Loved the location, the hotel ambience and atmosphere. True holiday feels. Also had a warm pool for the kids to swim in which was awesome 👌
Staff was really helpful and friendly too.
On arrival I was told that I had to pay a deposit of £100. This was a shock as I was not informed about this while booking the room, at the outset. The receptionist looked perplexed and was unapologetic. I was on a budget so as you can imagine I was concerned about this. I was also told it would be added into my account if I didn't spend it. I was then advised about the cafe while I waited for the room to be prepped. I went there at 10.30 and was told there were very few traybakes etc. I was amazed at this given how early it was in the morning.
As above.
Continuation:
The chair (in the cafe), upon which I sat was grubby and had crumbs. Eventually when I was directed to my room, I noticed a grubby carpet and stains on the stairs leading to the different floors. I entered my room and noticed that the twin beds were not separated as requested on the booking form, ( I have a copy of this). When my son and I had to separate the beds, I noticed that the floor was dusty and had some bits of paper under the bed, (evidently not hoovered properly). The corners and edges of the floor were dusty and same can be said of the bathroom. No milk on display, the room was dull and dark. Air conditioning was too high and it was difficult to follow instructions to decrease. When I tried, it didn't work.
The fan in the bathroom was very loud. No alcoholic drinks in the fridge, (should I have wanted to take an alcoholic drink). Overall quite a gloomy, grubby, and disappointing room. Definitely not a 5* category or calibre. The hotel rooms appear to be overpriced. I would say more a 2-3* category. Very disappointing.
Great staff. Room was clean and sizable with pretty decor. Coffee in the lobby at 5am!! In new town near Rose Street. Very nice stay.
