The price and the room itself
Breakfast was reeally overcrowded.
My wife and I had an electrical fire at our house, and the Marriott Residence Inn Sorrento Valley was part of our rescue team! I'll tell you, if I ever need to call someplace else home, I've got Marriott Residence Inn on speed dial. Their Sorrento Valley location delivered when we needed them. Generous hot breakfast, inviting pool & hot tub, gym, and a room that felt like a getaway. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful. All the staff really were remarkably friendly and welcoming. For us, it felt like we were staying with family while we got through a tough situation. Hats off to their entire operation, truly.
Staff was attentive and nice. I appreciated the pool and kitchenette, although no time to use them. Big rooms. Breakfast had a good assortment. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Clever idea to have the TV pivot to both living and bedroom.
Decor was dated and dark. Update the wood tone. Shower head offered no water pressure. Air conditioning room door rattled and fans came on with loudness every 1.5 hours interrupting my ability to sleep. I had to rurn it off the next night. The area has very few options for entertainment, only 2 dining options in walking distance and no stores. About 40 minutes to Petco Park, downtown and airport added around $230 to our stay in Uber costs. The Treehouse Cafe was impressive- fantastic food and service! Gravity Bar was good too.The Residence Inn and convention building need to negotiate a gate to pass through to each site using a hotel access card. It's a long walk in heels.
Staff was great!
Our bathroom was dirty, the AC was leaking causing the carpet to be constantly wet, the sleeper couch was super squeaky, plates, cups, and silverware we dirty in the room.
Very large and comfortable room, fridge and microwave, pretty good breakfast, not too far from the coast and La Jolla (8-10 miles). The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have the kitchenette.
We were not told (or we didn't notice) that there's a parking fee ($20 a day as I recall), which, considering that it's on the fringes of the city means it would be hard to get there without a car. Had we known would probably have booked somewhere else with free parking. However, after our protestations, the staff (who were generally pleasant) allowed us to waive the parking fee.
Love this hotel, second time here. The staffs were so friendly and welcoming, especially Jauad and Carol and others at the breakfast. Carol would give crafts to small kids and check on all the tables. Just appreciated how they treat all the guests.
Looks old but okay compared to other sites
This location is super convenient. The staff are so friendly and helpful! There is a great breakfast with lots of variety. Carol and Lourdes do an amazing job with breakfast, it helped me start my mornings on the right foot.
I enjoyed the home feeling it was like being at home at home away from home
Nice stay! Great staff at this hotel. Accommodating, friendly, and competent. Enjoyed the breakfast and the very friendly staff...especially nice for a morning greeting instead of from someone who grumbles and doesn't want to be at work. Rooms are fine...some areas show wear, but it didn't impact my quality of life or attitude for the day. Would definitely return.
The KitchenAid
The bed was a bit smaller than expected
Residence in is a great concept for an extended stay.
All of the staff were competent and friendly. But the kitchen staff (chef and woman cleaning and replenishing food) were exceptional! Always welcoming and genuinely friendly
1. Really did not appreciate having a $20/day parking fee. Not in this part of town. 2. Somehow our reservation got mixed up (I think they reversed my first and last name) was hard to find 3. It was incredibly hard to call the hotel directly before our arrival. When I tried to call the hotel directly, to confirm my reservation, I kept getting routed to a phone center inn India? I tried to ask questions and could not understand or get answers (partly because of the mix-up in my reservation)
