;The noise at night is ridiculous. It's almost comical. The bass is pumping throughout the whole building and the music is loud enough you can clearly hear the lyrics of a song in certain parts of the room. The fact they have ear plugs and sound machines in the room should tell you enough. Too bad it doesn't help with the bass at all. They should have a warning to any guest staying here that unless you plan on staying out partying yourself, you better go somewhere else. Anyone wanting to stay here stay away. The hotel itself is beautiful but just come during the day and see it and leave at night to actually be able to get some rest.
Added to that room wasn't ready till over an hour past checking time, the wifi and room phone weren't working.
I hate to give it 1 star because the staff actually were really nice but the noise issues overtakes any of that.
Parking fee high we did not move car in three days and paid $175 for parking
The closeness to the historical district.
Make sure the keys of your vehicle is placed correctly in accordance to your car.
Great location, comfortable bedrooms
Not what I would call 5 star service. Nobody to help with bags. Some very grumpy staff.
We enjoyed a memorable stay for several nights at this JW. The staff is exceptional and gracious, and the rooms were relaxing. The concierge staff always offered to assist in any way possible, and Mr. K. Patel in particular went our of his way to provice us assistance. He is definitely to be commended.
Also, the waitstaff in the breakfast restaurant were always gracious, congenial, efficient, and cheerful.
I attended a conference here in June. This is an outstanding venue located right on the Savannah River. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. There are three separate buildings, each with its own personality. We stayed in the Atlantic building, which is the quieter of the three. Staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Savannah.
Great hotel on the river. Lobby has a nice exhibit going on
Location by the water is nice, you can see the container ships passing by which is interesting. The lobby was quite interesting. The room felt somewhat unclean for some reason, the floors were sticky. Southern hospitality, whatever ot means, wasn’t felt at this property. Overall just okay.
Beautiful & worth every penny! The staff was very kind and our room was huge and comfortable! Wish we could have stayed more than 1 night!
Wish the price was a little lower but we loved that there were no hidden fees like the Westin Harbor Resort
**Review for JW Marriott Savannah Plant District**
I recently stayed at the JW Marriott Savannah Plant District and had a mixed experience. While the hotel itself is beautiful and the room was excellent, significant service and billing issues marred the stay.
**The Positives:**
The room was great — spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The hotel’s overall property and amenities are impressive, and it’s clear why this is considered one of the nicer hotels in Savannah.
**The Negatives:**
Unfortunately, both check-in and check-out were problematic.
Check-in took 15–20 minutes because there was only one person working at the front desk. While I understand staffing can sometimes be an issue, this felt avoidable for a property of this caliber.
Check-out was significantly worse. I was incorrectly charged for valet parking on a second car that was not mine. Had I not carefully reviewed the emailed receipt after departure, I would never have noticed the error. When I called to have it corrected, the front desk clerk told me this “happens frequently” due to the high volume of guests. I found this explanation completely unacceptable — not just as a long-standing Marriott Bonvoy member, but for any guest.
Even more concerning, the parking charges on my receipt included charges from the previous occupant of the room. This led me to immediately block my card out of concern that there may have been a security or system compromise.
**Final Thoughts:**
The JW Marriott Savannah Plant District is a nice hotel with great rooms, but the operational issues around billing accuracy and guest service at the front desk need serious attention. I strongly recommend that all guests carefully review their final receipts and charges before leaving the property (or immediately after receiving the emailed version).
I’d consider staying here again, but only with extra vigilance on the billing side. Three stars for the room quality being dragged down by poor execution at the front desk.
Robert the magician was awesome!
We love Robert the magician. He was fun
Went for a girls getaway and it was a fabulous experience! From an early check in including a glass of champagne to a beautiful room and a truly high end feel to the resort - it all made for a special few days. A big shout out to Serina and Alex at the front desks for their friendly helpfulness. Thank you JW for treating us so well!
Our experience could not have been better. The hotel is a stunning masterpiece, showcasing Richard Kessler’s private art collection and offering beauty at every turn. We were captivated by the architectural transformation of this historic electric plant; watching enormous ships glide past our river-view window was a particular highlight. Beyond the aesthetics, the amenities were abundant—the craft cocktails by April at Bao Bao were perfection, and every staff encounter was flawless. A standout moment occurred when the valet hand-delivered my husband’s forgotten phone to our door before we even realized it was missing. Furthermore, the concierge, Kyle, was exceptional. He offered sound advice, great dining tips and, I think, privately notified Vic’s on the River of our anniversary, securing us some extra special care there. With its prime location in the heart of the riverside walk, we were able to walk everywhere and soak up the wonderful Savannah vibe.
