Staff were super helpful from the concierge to Luke in the Arbor (breakfast). Food was good and choices were wide catering for all diets/palates.
Cannot fault the staff; all super friendly, helpful and went the extra mile (shout out to Luke in breakfast who offered me a clean knife seconds after mine fell on the floor)
The bed was really comfortable.
The room itself was awful. It felt like I'd been shoved in a shoebox. Given the cost of the two night stay I expected at least a bathroom door!
I have never stayed in a hotel where you open your room door and face a toilet. So this is a single room but why on earth would you not put a door to the bathroom. Not only does one fear people in the corridor can hear you on the loo but anyone knocking the door would have a full view of the loo.
It does feel like Hilton are creating these tiny rooms to pack more people in but I will not book another 'luxury single' room with them again. I think I would have found it wholly depressing if I had stayed more than two nights. Thankfully I was attending a conference so I was out all day. Cannot fault the bed and bedlinen though.
To name but a few things in my room;
1 - telephone didn't work
2- a/c room heating didn't work. There was a small radiator under the desk that I had to stretch the cable to plug in but given the small size of the room having this on was a bit of a hazard.
3 - view out of the window was really depressing - just a view of a corrugated roof.
4 - the wardrobe was so shallow I was barely able to hang up my clothes for two days without it being able to shut
5 - no drawer space at all for smaller items of clothing/underwear
6 - the shower door handle pinched my hand several times getting in and out of the shower, water leaked all over the floor from the gap in the glass door
7 - the kettle was stuck to the bottom of a drawer and the power lead was strained when I tried to plug it in. Absolute hazard having to boil a kettle pretty much on the floor of the drawer
Comfortable - nice gym - good night's sleep
Too big - long queue to check in and lots of waiting for lifts
Ok
The bar food had little choice. The main restaurant was booked. Reception did know so we walked all the way to find we couldn't eat there. We were stuck with the bar food
Convenient for the NEC although not well signed . Lots of places to get food at reasonable price in the evening. Really excellent choice of cooked breakfast. Swimming pool, although I didn’t know about this before arriving .
Helpful staff at breakfast .
Grim view out of my room ( flat roof and back of hotel ). Window didn’t fit properly and was cold and draughty .
Very big hotel and very busy at check in . Only two lifts so long wait for a lift and I couldn’t see a staircase .
Check in and out was easy.
The breakfast staff were lovely and food was nice. Good options and plenty of space.
Easy to find
Room service was efficient and food was nice (albeit a little too pricey for what it was!) but good
desk area in the room was very helpful with lots of plugs
The main issue was the no door on the toilet. I do not understand this at all. I was in a double room and if I was sharing, I would never want my companion to hear or see me using the toilet. Gross. If there is a door on a room at your house, there certainly should be one in a hotel.
The bed was too firm and I found it to be quite uncomfortable and only 2 pillows for a double bed.
Signage to the other half of the hotel was lacking and myself and several other guests were left wandering up and down corridors trying to find lobby b lift - a bit more instruction from reception wouldnt hurt!!
I've rarely been to a place where the staff was so universally friendly and helpful. I didn't encounter one single grumpy person, even though the hotel was super busy. I had particular great service from Abud, who dealt with my request very efficiently when I encountered an issue with my room. My other highlight was the breakfast - such a great array of nutritious food, which is not always the case - and the gym, which was very clean.
The single rooms are on the small side and the walls are a bit thin so I could hear all my neighbour's toilet visits!
Nice design
Toilet didn’t flush properly, shower was either really hot or really cold - took a few mins to adjust
Location was good
Couldn't access the disabled parking.
The disabled access room was only accessible in the shower and not the room as it was very tight for the wheelchair.
The picture on the wall in the room will give a lot of people night mares.
A better place to full the kettle as the bathroom sink is small.
