Categories

Cleanliness
7.5
No major cleanliness complaints mentioned; rooms described as 'tired' but not explicitly dirty—standard cleanliness for this hotel tier.
Service
7.8
Mixed but generally positive: several reports of very friendly/helpful staff (check-in, late-night friendliness, special romantic room set-up), counterbalanced by instances of curt/unfriendly reception and unresponsive bar/room service.
Location
9.2
Consistently praised: excellent west end location, next to the Botanic Gardens and close to the subway—frequent positive highlight in reviews.
Room Quality
5.8
Multiple reports of tired décor and maintenance issues (jaunty toilet seat, shower tap breaking, empty fridge shell, frayed duvet cover, plumbing outage) indicate below-par room condition.
Amenities
7.1
Breakfast and parking noted positively, but several in-room amenity failures (broken coffee machine, extractor fan, fridge) and unreliable late-night room service lowered the score.
Value for Money
7.2
Mixed sentiment: some guests found pricing reasonable (e.g., during events), others felt overcharged for the level of maintenance and service experienced.
Food and Beverage
8
Breakfast consistently praised as 'great'; however, issues with late-night ordering/room service and unresponsive bar staff tempered the score.
Overall Experience
8.2
Overall a positive stay driven by location, friendly moments from staff, and good breakfast, but hampered by dated rooms and intermittent service/maintenance problems.

A Night To Remember
Pros:

This review is actually for my son, as he knew he wouldn't get round to it. He decided to propose to his girlfriend and booked The Grosvenor. They went downstairs to Bo'Vine for a delicious meal and, while there, the staff made a fantastic job of doing up their room. It couldn't have looked any more romantic or gone any better. So a special thanks to all involved in making their special night so memorable. They were raving about breakfast the next morning too.

The breakfast was great and the location of the hotel served us well, but the interior decoration needs an overhaul.
Pros:

Good location, friendly staff and plenty of options at breakfast. It was a good price considering the commonwealth games.

Cons:

The decor of the hotel is tired and it is in need of refurbishing. It is stuck in the 90’s/early 00’s

Pros:

The staff at the check in desk were very helpful with where to go and what to see and how to use the subway

Cons:

We would have preferred a walk in shower, but I don't think the hotel offer them.

Pros:

Great location in the west end.

Cons:

The hotel had plumbing issues and there was no water for showering in the morning. We were offered a free breakfast as compensation which was of no interest to us.

Great location for a classic hotel but needs a little renovation
Pros:

The staff were very friendly and this classic hotel was set in an ideal location near the botanical gardens and close to the university.

The rooms are a bit tired which is OK due to its classical nature however some of the repair jobs were botched including a toilet seat attached at a jaunty angle, an empty fridge shell and a shower with a tap that came off in my hand.
Given I paid over £1k for two nights for three people I would have hoped for better when asking to order food after 10 pm on a Saturday night. Bar and restaurant staff assured me I could order via room service but no one answered and Reception were curt and told me to order Uber eats.

Thankfully we had a discounted room.
Pros:

One night stay - thankfully. Room on second floor. Thought I was at a funeral with the amount of incense in the corridor. Room okay, but television was pointing wrong way. Bed and pillows comfortable but could have done without blood (?) stains on sheet - put towel over them. Used quaint little fan to try to stay cool (less feted hotels have AC) but that meant opening window to street noise.
Breakfast 2 tatty scones and beans. Mentioned I was vegetarian to waiter. Told to speak to chef. No chef there.
Realised when I left that I had stupidly (mea culpa - no excuses) left my phone charger and wire. Contacted hotel - mysteriously disappeared.
Verdict...

Good location, very warm in sunny weather, no attention to extras
Pros:

Good location ,

Cons:

Very warm room, no AC and windows can only be opened a tiny bit. We Had booked a travel cot and received confirmation. No travel cot in the room on arrival, asked again and it was set up without any bedding. Asked reception for bedding , was given an enormous sheet (after the reception staff had finished their chat…)
