Spacious rooms, great breakfast and friendly staff. Perfect spot in centre of York. Really comfortable beds. Very clean rooms and public areas.
A little bit noise at times at the front of the building. Didn’t both us too much.
Good location good vegan selection at breakfast
Nothing
Good choice of breakfast items and friendly staff. Air conditioned which was good.
No air conditioning in the room. Only a small fan which wasn't enough as it was hot so didn't sleep. The pillows wasn't very comfortable but the bed and room was good and very clean.
Breakfast was self service, eggs cooked on request
Nothing
Clean comfortable staff polite but the house keeping ladies were amazing big thanks to them .
Clean and bright and welcoming
Location
Price of parking and no fridge in a family room.
What a lovely stay at the Hilton York. Greeting was fabulous and we were able to check in early and took the option of valet parking which was really smooth. The room was lovely and clean overlooking the castle and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely stay again when we visit York.
Location is great, staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast offered great choices and the staff were well organised.
Room 343. We asked for a walk in shower room, which was allocated to us. However, as we walked in to the room, the carpets outside the bathroom were wet. It is clear that the drainage in the bathroom is not adequate and results in flooding, which spreads easily to the bedroom. We guessed this may be a problem, so used towels to contain the water overflow. It meant the cleaner had extra work every day. There is little provision inside the bathroom for storage of personal toilet items.
The staff were helpful and kind the room was so clean and the mattress was comfortable
Nothing will use again
I found the hotel nice and central for everything. Had an enjoyable stay. Staff were all very helpful.
My only negative comments would be no fridge in the room and when you book a room on the front elevation of the hotel you would expect to have a view of the museum castle. I was in room 301 and was a bit disappointed with the view over roofs to a main road.
As I said I did enjoy my stay and would go back to the hotel.
The hotel has a great location adjacent to Cliffords Tower and within easy walking distance of the sights of York. It is a modern building with the room being of good size, comfortable and upto date in decor and amenities including ensuite. The Dinner Bed and Breakfast option was good value as it included a three course dinner. All the food was of good standard and the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The added cost of £30.00 a night was disappointing though in comparison to the adjacent castle car park turned out to be better value and considering the budget nature of our deal the additional cost was understandable.

Excellent stay. Spotless. Asked for a view. It was amazing. Close to everything. It was during the heatwave, they got us in early and provided us with very cold water, water was available in the lobby too. Aircon in room. Late check out at 12. Fabulous thank you . Great breakfast . Comfy bed .

Close to the centre
Soft pillows.
Air con was inconsistent.
Staff were very helpful, room was comfortable - bed a little hard for my liking, but that is just a personal prefrence, breakfast was first class.
During the hot spell, air con' would have been helpful - but that is just a sign of global warming & not a fault with the hotel. A fan was supplied in the room.
We stayed during last week's heatwave, which was honestly brutal, but the staff completely turned the experience around. Even though our room didn't have A/C, they went out of their way to bring us fans, cold water, and cold facecloths, and even offered to open the window, which definitely helped. As Americans, we definitely missed having A/C, but we also understand that's just not the norm here!
We also spoke with another American working at reception who was incredibly kind while helping us with our luggage. She completely understood what we were going through in the heat and really sympathized with us, which made us feel heard! Every interaction we had with the staff was wonderful, including the egg chef at breakfast, who made mornings especially memorable. The reception manager deserves her own special shoutout, she handled what I'm sure were countless complaints (but one nasty guy we heard) about the heat with patience, professionalism, and a great attitude. You could just tell the entire team was doing everything they possibly could with the situation they were given, and that didn't go unnoticed.
The room was on the smaller side, but that's exactly what we booked, so no complaints there. More importantly, it was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was a great size with excellent water pressure, and the view of the castle was absolutely fantastic.
Breakfast was incredible, with so many options. My vegan travel buddy who booked the hotel was especially impressed because she was actually able to eat a huge variety of foods, which isn't something she usually gets to do while traveling. For a city hotel next to a historic landmark, we also thought the price was extremely reasonable.
Overall, despite the heat, we absolutely loved our stay. The staff, the food, and the facilities all exceeded our expectations, and the level of care we received really made all the difference. We can't wait to come back!
