Suite Hotel Eden Mar - PortoBay

Located short walk from Funchal. Hotel has lovely grounds with gardens.Pools clean and not too crowded. Plenty of sunbeds at all times of the day. Evening buffet food excellent, lots of variety, and amazing desserts.. staff friendly and very efficient. It was my birthday and came back to find free bottle of chilled fizz in n room

We have just returned from a lovely, 11 nights stay
at the Eden Mar hotel.
The hotel thinks of everything and it’s such a bonus thet you can also use all the facilities of
the Porto Mar hotel, which is next door.
There are 2 lovely outdoor pools and 2 fantastic
indoor pools; one is part of the Spa that goes out
to a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi; bliss!
Both really warm to swim in.
The grounds are stunning and well maintained.
There is a lovely, separate orchid garden too.
The rooms are excellent with a small kitchen area,
so this is ideal if you want to make a drink or make
a light meal. The supermarket, ‘Pingo Doce’ is just
below the hotel, so it is really convenient and
sells fresh bread and yummy cakes.
All the staff were polite and helpful and we would not hesitate to return to this hotel. It’s also
spotlessly clean. Also, there are lots of good shops and cafes at the Forum shopping centre, which is a 15 minute walk away, turn left outside the hotel. Bus stop to Funchal is also just outside
the Porto Mare hotel; 15 minutes journey.
We would definitely return to this hotel and will recommend it to our friends & family.

Petit déjeuner bon

A well located slightly out of town hotel. It's a good 40 minute walk into the centre of Funchal, but we opted for it because of the suite option, giving you cooking facilities: a microwave, stove top, fridge, kettle etc which was super useful as the weather wasn't as good as we'd hoped! We walked a lot during the day and ate lunch out almost every day too, so we were often either not hungry or just not in the mood for going out to dinner. We were on a B&B package so we had breakfast and then ate in our room a few nights. I have to say - that's the first time I've ever cooked scrambled eggs and smoked salmon in a hotel room! There is a very good supermarket literally underneath the hotel - super useful, lots of lovely salads and fruits and cheeses there.
The hotel decor was a bit uninspiring for me - I like a bit of colour and quirkiness - and it's a bit bland, beige and safe looking - but it's clean, quiet - no doors banging or people talking loudly in the corridors - the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot and we had plenty of towels! We also had a fab sea view.

We had another marvellous holiday at Suites Eden Mar and the Porto Bay Resort .
Staff are so friendly , helpful , informative and always go that extra mile from daily housekeeping to Alex ; an inspirational Manager . Alex could be seen by guests and staff , checking in with everyone .
Elizabeth works so hard in the main restaurant as does the head chef and his team .
The pool team are constantly on hand .
The garden team are just the very best with stunning gardens , including a kitchen garden , over flowing with flora and fauna.
Eden Mar has some lovely restaurants close by Indian Palace , Solar D’Ajuda, Lido Tavern , Corner Store Touristica are our favourites. Walk a little further towards Funchal and you will find X Tonel and Avista too .
There is a very high quality super market underneath the development…Pingo Doce . Another store is opposite Lido Tavern .
We also recommend a walk to The Forum for shopping treats .
Local Taxis are best picked up outside the pharmacy / boutique shops and will take you north to The Forum or into Funchal Town .

The Eden Mar Hotel in Funchal is now our hotel of choice when visiting Madeira. We would not go anywhere else.

We had a brilliant stay at Eden Mar in April 2026.
The staff here are exceptional and couldn't do enough. They thoroughly entertained our 3 year old.

We were on a bed, breakfast and evening meal basis. The breakfast and evening meal buffet were great with tons of choice of great quality.

It's ideally located on the Lido and a short bus from the centre of Funchal.

The gardens are amazing too.

We'll be booking again for April 2027

Would highly recommend this hotel, both for the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff, the facilities on offer (including gym and mini-golf) and the location.

Hotel room, facilities and staff we’re amazing as usual!

Cet hôtel est magnifique, Idée très bien située dans le founchal. À deux pas de plusieurs restaurants, d'un supermarché et des arrêts de bus. Il y a aussi tout autour des agences de tours opérateur qui vous permettent d'aller faire des excursions. Un personnel souriant est toujours à l'écoute. Le petit déjeuner est bien. Les piscines sont toujours très propres , Vous avez aussi des piscines intérieures chauffées.

Three family groups shared another perfect holiday at the Vila Porto Mare. Nothing is too much trouble and our family whose age range is from 2 to 74 were able to relax because of the friendly staff, the excellent variety of food and facilties on offer and the easy accessibilty to pools, restaurants, gym and garden.

In an often troubled world it remains a peaceful and happy haven

Great complex, good facilities, nice Junior Suite, nice personnel, everything was perfect!
Even a nice supermarket around the corner.

Really good hotel in all aspects especially the staff who were just brilliant total focus on making sure your holiday was a great experience
