Overall stay was nice, the shower in my room was leaking and would spray everywhere. The toilet didn’t flush correctly.
Pros:

The location and the restaurant downstairs.

Cons:

I didn’t like that my room wasn’t ready for an hour after my check in time, and they weren’t apologetic about it.

The restaurant. I tried to call the restaurant multiple times to pre-order for breakfast, it just keeps ringing. I called again in the morning at 6.30 for room service multiple times, kept ringing. I called again at 7.40 am multiple times but just kept ringing so I called the guest service to ask them if restaurant is open and mentioned to them that restaurant isn’t answering, the staff said the fastest way to order was to
Come down so I did. When I got there, I had to wait about 7minutes because no one was there , when I saw the staff, i went to ask him if I could order for room service ,he said and quoted “I can’t do that right now because I’m by myself.” I was very disappointed because it’s my son’s birthday and wanted to surprise him.

The location and the restaurant

Cons:

The smell at the hallways and rooms was so bad!
We felt as if sleeping in the street because of the noise!
Booked three rooms and stayed for four nights and couldn’t wait for our stay to end!
The staff does not care whether you are enjoying your stay or not! Could not care less!

Convenient and great service
Pros:

We stayed at Hotel Shattuck Plaza when we moved our son into Berkeley. We were able to have Amazon ship his bedding and other dorm supplies to the hotel so we didn’t have to transport it from home. Hotel staff set up a photo op with “My first day in college” and Cal signs, an Oslo bear with blue/gold tie and a balloon arch - so cute! It was an easy 15 min walk to Telegraph and the south side of campus where most of the dorms are. The BART is across the street from the hotel and costs $12/pp and takes 45 min to the Oakland Airport. Cheaper and about the same amount of time to get into SF.

Berkley is ‘eh’, but hotel is nice
Pros:

Nice older hotel. People were nice and it was convenient to where we needed.
The hotel needs some newer carpet in the halls and isn’t in a fantastic part of town, but it worked for our need.

Pros:

Staff super friendly and helpful up in our arrival! From check in to check out service was top tier! Very easy to get to with plenty options for dining! The room was super and comfortable with a nice view of the SF skyline and Golden Gate Bridge!! This is our new found gem of a hotel when visiting the area! Top tier hotel in the area! Thank you to the staff at Hotel Shattuck Plaza! Wonderful place to spend the nights.

Very bad experience ever
Pros:

I booked the hotel through Chase Travel. It’s a bit pricey, but I thought it was worth it for a great experience. However, it turned out to be much lower than I expected. The room is small and faces the elevator, so we could hear people talking loudly. Also, the room was freezing, even though we set the temperature to 80, which gave my husband a headache. The next day, the toilet wasn’t working, so we couldn't flush.
Additionally, my husband is 6 feet tall, and the shower head is way too low, so he had to kneel to take a shower, which was also too low for me. The bath sheet has some black dots; we weren’t sure what they were. The amenities seem a bit old. I feel so frustrated to have this expensive room and have this bad experience. I definitely will not come back.

Cons:

Housekeeping and communication were consistently disappointing. Despite requesting cleaning and leaving the room from around 11:15 a.m. until after 8:00 p.m., I returned to find it unserviced. When it was eventually cleaned, the sheets were still not changed. I had to contact the front desk at least three times before they were finally replaced. At check-in, I was also promised a room change next day, that never occurred and apparently had not been arranged.

Pros:

Unfortunately, my stay was affected by repeated housekeeping and communication failures. At check-in, I was told I would be moved to another room the following day, but this never happened and apparently had not been arranged.

Despite requesting room cleaning and leaving from around 11:15 a.m. until after 8:00 p.m., I returned to find the room unserviced. Staff said I had displayed the privacy sign, which, to the best of my knowledge, was not the case. When the room was serviced the next day, the sheets did not appear to have been changedI had to contact the front desk at least three times before they were finally replaced.

Fantastic experience overall
Pros:

Great place, convenient location by the BART station and Berkeley campus. Quaint place with a lot of character. Great food and great service.
