Overall great experience here. I would say the staff and vintage feel make this one a great choice.
Pros:

Breakfast was nice. They had a lovely eat in dining room and also a extended seating area in a adjacent parlor. I enjoyed the vintage feel to this hotel. There was a very nice front patio before you walk in the lobby that I appreciated.

Cons:

I feel conflicted here , because one of the main things that I enjoyed about The Normandy was the vintage feeling. Although I do feel as the hotel room itself could have had a few updates. One in particular for me would be the mini fridge in our room. When you opened the door it almost fell over. It was not on level flooring and not bolted in. Bathrooms could also be updated some.

If I ever go back to DC this will be my hotel of choice. So much better than the large chain hotels!!
Pros:

Loved all of the small details in the hotel as well as the room. Cannot say enough about my stay. This was probably my favorite part of staying in DC!!

Cons:

That I couldn’t live there!! This place reminded me so much of the Dylan in San Francisco. Took me back!!

A change from the routine of big chains.
Pros:

This facility was a breath of fresh air from the ginormous, impersonal hotel chains. The "reception" was a 5-foot desk with a helpful person sitting behind it. No lines to check in or out. The hotel is compact. No mile-long hallways to walk or 30 floors to climb. The room was on the small side but no more so than many others. Breakfast was modest, but enjoyable. No expensive valet parking. You can find street parking if you look. I always found something on California St, a five minute walk. Oh, and the best part.Not only they welcome pets, they do something I had never seen before. NO pet fees! At a time when pet fees are exceeding $150, this is unheard of. This was actually the reason I picked them. Definitely would recommend.

Cons:

Thee is not much of shopping or restaurants within walking distance that I could see.

We could not use the parking garage due to height of our vehicle and we could not adjust thermostat in our room and it was warm during the night. Breakfast was mediocre.
