The hotel is very nice and beautiful. But a mandatory guest amenity fee of $29 plus tax per day will be added to your bill. I do not see this until the day before check in. All I enjoyed out of the amenity fee is a cup of wine. Very expensive cup of wine.
The terrace room was amazing. Location is perfectly central for Portland. Staff very friendly and helpful. Unusually for a hotel, nothing was annoying or seemingly illogically set up.
Minor complaint, the chairs could use some new upholstering.
Aging 5 star, should be 4.5 or 4 star. There were some issues such as broken items in the bathroom, but no biggie. Bed was comfortable. On the smallish side. Employees are kind. Party time on Friday and Saturdays ( no noise issue, maybe because floor 1 is not there). Fast cleaning services. You can ask for a microwave--ran out when we asked. We got the worst possible room despite paying for a corner room. I was told there was construction, so our view was a wall.
It was really nice. I was only there one night and the room and service were impeccable. Valet was worth it to me, and I'd stay here again.
Great location middle of the city with lovely staff very friendly. Great stores right on the block as well as in the proximity that allowed us to do some luxury and unique shopping. Room was upgraded to executive suite using amex plat status very large, clean, and on the floor with executive lobby that had selection of snacks and drinks (mostly coffee and tea with waterloo sparkling water). No noise during the stay and very easy and convenient access to great restaurants.
We travel constantly and all over the world. We have stayed at 30+ SLH hotels and there are some amazing properties. Sentinel ranks among our top-5 urban hotels, anywhere. TripAdvisor ranks this as the #16 hotel in Portland and I cannot fathom there being 15 better places to stay… or any at all.
Firstly, the hotel has so much personality and a special elegance that is impossible to recreate from scratch. You can feel its history, from the lobby’s “BPOE” ceiling, to the second floor gym, which transports you to another time. The suites on the 6th floor are great (full floor skylight!) as is the special amenities room, with all sorts of unexpected treats.
There is the wine hour, from 5 to 6pm, and the fresh fruit (local apples, etc).
In the immediate vicinity you have the Hyatt Centric, the Ritz, the Moxy; these are fine properties, but none have this level of authenticity.
The Sentinal Hotel is affordable, clean, and the staff is friendly and very accommodating. Highly recommend. Great place!
Lovely hotel in central Portland. Had a great vibe and the room was lovely
Beautiful historic building. My room had high ceilings and a fireplace and real furniture not of the chain hotel variety. Best of all, good pillows and a comfortable bed.
I liked most everything. Needed to wait 30 mins for room to be ready but not a big deal.
Perfect place to stay if you’re in Portland. Perfectly located . You can walk to most places including great dining. Great staff!
Bardzo klimatyczny hotel
Przyjemne, eleganckie pokoje
Chętnie tu wrócę 😊
Location, staff and quality of accommodation
The room was beautiful. The terrace overlooking downtown was especially.
The A/C was very inconsistent. Never did get it to cool properly. And the large round table in the corner was both ugly and a waste of space. The space would be better served with a nice desk and chair looking out of the window.
Beautiful building. Nice lobby, spacious room, access to Shinola bikes, wine hour, nice staff
Not informed of construction outside our room, although apologized and compensated generously.
The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful.
The price of parking was extremely high for one night. I would recommend not taking a car.
This was the perfect hotel for out of town guests for our son’s wedding. The beauty of this hotel made everyone feel special and welcoming. Every room was beautifully designed. The restaurant and bars were all accommodating to our large guest party. It’s in the perfect location for walking to Portland’s historic sites.
The Sentinel never disappoints. Walking distance to art offerings, shopping and of course, Powell's. We booked a room with a rooftop balcony which turned out to be a night where fireworks were celebrating the Burnside bridge. We could see it from our room!
