Clean and stylish hotel.

Cons:

The heater wasn't working. The reception staff reset the control for us, and it was supposed to be working then. Not really, for all night it was just cold fan. It was brutal for Canberra winter.


edit - in response to your reply : so there was a fault with the heating system during our visit, why didn't the receptionist inform us when we enquired? That at least we didn't need to stress out about figuring out the setting and controls .

Atmosphere, style and quality wrapped in a historic mantle
Pros:

We love the atmosphere of this place. It suits our requirement for a genteel environment with a sense of style coupled with quality. Though we are vegetarians and the restaurant has a limited selection, we love dining there. Breakfasts are wondrous too.

Pros:

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and excellent location

Cons:

Windows has plantation shutters that look marvellous but you can open them to get some fresh air in the room so it felt a bit inconvenient.

Faulty towers ...
Pros:

Great location, beautiful historic building, restaurant view into the gardens are lovely; especially in the summer to sit outside to chill, fireplace and comfortable chairs in the foyer was relaxing

Cons:

Staff shortage was obviously a big problem 🙄 breakfast was cold ( toast and eggs) coffee came too late and both breakfast were not served at same time. One waiter for the whole restaurant; he was there the night before; did he get any sleep ! The room maid did not know how to make up a bed properly; every day it was different; no replacement of shower cap; glasses and coffee cups were not cleaned up, the bar in the lobby closed at 8.30pm....too expensive food choices and drinks ...receptionist did not know about the bus options to the theatre and city centre on the weekend... . No assistance was offered at all .. parking was paid for and a spot was not secured; had to drive around daily to both parking lots to find a spot ...NOT HAPPY
