The location and waterside is beautiful. Lobby bar and pool table areas are always clean and beautiful. Rooms are comfy
It can be hot. Bring your fan or ask for one
This was our third year with the Renaissance of Portsmouth. The staff was amazing per usual. We brought friends down with us, and their hospitality is unmatched. Specially given the circumstances. We were able to check in extra early which really.helped out arriving as early in the morning as we did.
Unfortunately, on the hottest weekend so far this year as we arrived the AC for the entire building went out. That definitely made things uncomfortable. But the staff did their best despite them suffering just as much as we were. Despite that, I am sure we will return next year.
Location
Pipe burst on the second of my visit, air broke, had to buy fans from the store and was not comfortable in 104 degree heat on the 4th of July weekend.
I loved the location and the beautiful waterfront views. Being able to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from our room was a highlight of our stay. The hotel was clean, and the common areas were nice.
The air conditioner never cooled the room properly during our stay, which was very disappointing, especially considering the cost of the room. The bed was too firm, the pillows were uncomfortable, and there was no microwave in the room. Overall, the lack of a comfortable, cool room had the biggest impact on our stay.
Hotel itself was good, staff was not very helpful.
The area around hotel is horrible. Would not recommend walking around in this area, very unsafe.
The staff was very professional and considerate.
The unavailability of food except for restricted times..
I loved it will be bck
The shwer wasn't clean & no microwave in room
The area is nice.
The beds are not comfortable and the rooms are not clean. The floor has never been swept or mopped. Sheets are stained. This was my second time staying there, I will not stay there again.
place was clean. good water pressure. right by the ferry. staff was great.
fridge didnt get cold. lots of minor maintenance issues
Staff were very friendly...Food at bar was great
parking garage, and walk to front desk were ok for me, but i noticed several disabled people that had a lot of difficulty getting to the front desk and elevators
First time back in 15 years and was pleasantly surprised with upgraded decor. Decided to stay here due to Sail 250 event and proximity of Ferry adjacent to property and the commanding view of Norfolk Waterside. We were not disappointed whatsoever!
Want to mention Daphne who was staffing the reception desk and went out of way to greet us as well as provide plentiful information. She was absolutely delightful! Marriott sets a high standard in this regard but Daphne exceeds that high standard!
The room was extremely well furnished and obviously recently upgraded with stylish colors and furnishing. Bathroom was deluxe in every aspect with sliding barn door and oversized shower with dual heads. Nice!
Breakfast was a gourmet affair with buffet set up with plentiful options including fresh fruit. Need to call out Daruis who seemed to be hustling all over dining room yet managing to give friendly personalized attention to each and every one of diners. He really made an impression on us.
This property is well situated on waterfront with ample parking and with ferry service, an attractive alternative to staying in Norfolk with easy access via delightful ferry service.
Everything about the facility was great.
The communication between the booking agent and the hotel representatives sucked. The was a glitch in the system and the hotel could not see my reservation. Manager was not on duty who could resolve issue. This went on for over a week. Need qualified individuals who can resolve these types of issues on duty all the time.
