Vira was great at customer service at reception and was thoroughly helpful
Front desk gentleman was unhelpful and dismissive
the whole two days there was construction in the pool area. They were actively painting the pool while I was trying to swim.
Space, crew, amenities.
Gym, the gym is terrible! Nowadays, where everyone is caring about health having a decent gym is mandatory.
Fantastic location and amenities. I wish I had allowed for more leisure time at the resort.
My husband and I stayed in the Cottage King Balcony, Junior Suite. When they say "balcony" know that it is actually located in the front near your front door. There are 2 chairs and a small table in the front balcony. It actually wasn't bad but when I think balcony I think it's located in the back of the room. The room was also very dark for my taste and smaller than I expected. The sofa has seen better days for sure! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was roomy enough for 2 people. It had a walk in shower and a single sink.
We used Amex FHR to book since there was a $300 resort credit when staying for 3 nights. In addition, the breakfast offered with FHR allotted I think a $60 credit. As a Marriott Titanium Elite we did not get upgraded due to the hotel was at capacity. We liked that self-parking was free and you can basically park in front of your cottage. The gym was small but had ample equipment for our workout. The spa was nice and my massage was good. All-in-all would not return.
Excellent three-night stay at The Lodge at Sonoma. We not only checked-in early but were upgraded to a cottage junior suite and provided a bottle of wine. Our room was not immediately available, so we enjoyed drinks on the patio while waiting. The general manager, Fungai introduced himself to us and checked on the preparations for our room. Fungai and all of the staff that we dealt with was top notch! As both Chase and Bonvoy elite members we received a lot of perks included with our room, from daily breakfast for two at Benecia's, a $100 hotel credit that we used at Wit and Wisdom for dinner, as well as some drink vouchers. Initially, I was concerned by some of the mixed reviews, but we could not have asked for a better experience and will highly recommend it to friends and family visiting Sonoma.
Boutique look and feeling
The staff and service
We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at The Lodge at Sonoma Resort. Based on previous reviews I was concerned, but we found the resort to be excellent. From the moment we checked in and were upgraded to the small details, there is a lot to love about this resort. The resort fee is high, but it includes a free shuttle, bikes, wine tasting, and other activities. The location of the resort is ideal for visiting Sonoma and places throughout Sonoma County.
What I especially loved were the people who worked there. Everyone we interacted with were friendly and helpful. I would like to recognize Antonio, Tina, and Edwin for being extremely warm and welcoming. The afternoon wine tasting was a nice surprise. The food was also very good at the hotel and as a Bonvoy Elite member you get a lot of perks like free breakfast and drink vouchers. You cannot go wrong by staying at the Lodge at Sonoma Resort.
Public area looked great, pool etc were lovely
Our room was very dated, and urgently needed bringing up to date in line with autograph standards. We faced the road and too much road noise, no blackouts and bathroom was very dated with a step in bath that is poorly set out and difficult to enter - my wife hurt her knee doing so
Excellent stay at The Lodge at Sonoma. The property is beautiful - with cottages and a lovely pool. The staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurants on site are equally amazing for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Everything !
I would have liked to maybe stay here but the phone rang for minutes until it finally disconnected. Tried the spa, guest services, etc. Nada, nobody...and this is a premier resort...holy mother of god.
1 Star – Extremely Disappointing
We stayed at the Marriott in Sonoma expecting a solid, comfortable experience and left completely underwhelmed. The room felt tired and neglected — outdated furnishings, visible wear, and a general lack of cleanliness that you wouldn’t expect from a Marriott property. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and basic requests took far too long to be addressed (when they were addressed at all).
Service was impersonal and unhelpful. Front desk staff seemed disinterested, and there was little follow-through on anything we asked for. For the price we paid, the overall experience felt overpriced and underwhelming. We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider returning. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and feels wonderfully secluded while still being in the heart of Sonoma. We stayed in one of the cottages, which was charming with a cozy outdoor fireplace, but much smaller than we expected given the price. We were traveling with two young children, and the pull-out sofa only converted into a single bed, which made sleeping arrangements difficult for a family of four. We were also told we had been upgraded at check-in, but it appeared to be the same room type we had originally booked. The beds themselves weren't as comfortable as we expected for a luxury resort.
That said, the rest of our stay was excellent. The pool was fantastic for families, with plenty of comfortable lounge seating for relaxing, though we'd love to see the pool menu expanded with a few more kid-friendly options like smoothies. The hot tub was nice but fairly small and basic.
The dining was a highlight. We had breakfast at the casual restaurant both mornings, and the birria breakfast tacos were absolutely delicious. Dinner at Wit & Wisdom was outstanding, with exceptional food, drinks, service, and ambiance. The steak, seafood pot pie, and gourmet candy bar dessert were all excellent.
This is a lovely resort for couples and families alike, with a great location for exploring Sonoma. My only wish is that the cottages felt a bit more spacious and luxurious, with better sleeping arrangements for families, to better reflect the premium price. Overall, it was a beautiful stay with memorable dining and a relaxing atmosphere.
This should NOT be an Autograph property. The rooms (6 different rooms), including a cottage jr suite, were all sub par with shabby dilapidated furniture, minimal towels, and missing basic amenities. Pool area is terrible as all cushions are stained, deck area chipped and missing paint everywhere. Lobby and restaurant were in more acceptable condition, but the rest was not even as nice as a Hampton Inn level of hotel. The only positive was it was quiet. Shame on Marriott. Very over priced for condition of the hotel. I rarely write a bad review and took those on here with a grain of salt, but they were not exaggerating.
The property was exceptional, and everything was conveniently accessible. It was very entertaining with hidden entertainment that was sentimental to the property; make a wish in a bottle, yoga onsite, spa, games, food etc.
The spa was a ways from the rooms; not necessarily a bad thing but I did walk a decent way. The water wasn’t tasty at least not in certain areas.
I’ve traveled my entire life for business and now after retirement and I have never ever had such a wonderful place to stay. The staff was absolutely amazing and fabulous and fantastic. The service is first class plus. Truly this place its location cleanliness staff everything about it is worth coming to.
