Good location and within short distance of many restaurants, shops and bars.
Quiet and very little outside noise.
Reception staff were friendly on arrival and departure and allowed us to leave our suitcase in reception so we didn't have to carry it around Nottingham while sightseeing.
Good desk fan.
So disappointed as we stayed he a few years ago and had a wonderful time and were really looking forward to returning. I found the breakfast host to be a little rude and sarcastic to both myself and my partner. At 8:30 in the morning I don’t need poorly sung renditions off the radio while I’m eating my breakfast.
Poached eggs were cold, hash browns hard and greasy however I was that hungry I ate my breakfast very quickly.
Apple juice wasn’t fresh and tasted like watered down cordial.
Booked the cozy room but was smaller than expected, cramped shower, and you had to turn it off to apply shower gel then turn it back on and no space to put your toiletries.. Not suitable for a couple but okay if travelling alone. grubby carpets. Poor view and not much natural light. Air con frustrating so resorted to desk fan.
Small things like having to turn the television off by the plug as remote didn’t work was annoying as I had to get in and out off bed
Cleaning products left in lift and tape covering something in lift.
The whole place could use a facelift and some attention to detail.
Unfortunately for the price I won’t be staying here again as the negatives out way the positives.
Real shame
Nice looking room in a great location.
Few cobwebs here and there and the room could do with a lick of paint to brighten it up.
The beds were unbelievably comfortable!!
The Hideout is a lovely room, tucked away for a quiet, intimate escape. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect.
N/A
Nothing
Too much to tell you everything.
Too too hot in room heater on full blast & couldn’t switch off. No help from staff.
The fridge couldn’t close. Broken door.
Dressing table glass cracked. Other table bad rings on wood. Chipped off strip. Stains on carpet. No help from staff.
The 3 other rooms I paid for had similar issues. Curtain fell down.
3 times locked out of room. Etc etc
Not sure.
So small, very noisy due to elevator right outside room, no desk.
Had an afternoon tea the food made my cristina was amazing and Carl was a brilliant waiter looked after us well would highly recommend booking
The staff were lovely and very helpful, but I would not rate this hotel as 4 star at all. We had problems with our first room and were moved to a new room (again, the staff were great), but the new room also wasn't great. It was ground floor, and right on the street, we couldn't have the curtains open at all as the window goes right onto the pavement - this included the window in the bathroom, being right by the pavement and right next to the toilet, which seems an odd choice. The hotel was just fine, but I expected a lot more for the price we paid and the way it was advertised before booking.
I've stayed in lots of hotels in Nottingham, and this was my worst experience so far.
When you book a not-inexpensive Superior Suite at a hotel, it would not be unreasonable to expect a fair degree of luxury and quality, especially when our stay was to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Having checked in to The Lace Market Hotel in Nottingham some four weeks ago and opened the door to our ‘suite’ we found quite the opposite; just a decidedly standard bedroom that could not, in any way whatsoever, be described as a suite. It would struggle to draw comparison with a very basic 2-star establishment. The room had long since seen better days with flaking paintwork, dirty net curtains that trailed the floor, numerous pieces of putty that had fallen from the windows and scattered over the bathroom floor, antiquated air conditioning that was not only extremely noisy but also broke down (temperatures were in excess of 30° during our stay), the bedroom windows could not be opened, and the bathroom window could only be opened with the support of a toilet roll, there was neither drawer space nor a safe in the room, the bedside tables were pitifully small and the dressing table position was in the passageway between the bedroom and bathroom and could not be termed as a dressing table at all.
We complained to Reception upon first seeing the room but were told that there was no alternative available. By any measure, the hotel promoted the accommodation under false pretences; its description abysmally inaccurate. That room should never have been in use in the first instance.
Naturally, once back at home, we complained to the General Manager, initially by post, followed up by email. Regrettably, not only has no apology been forthcoming, we have not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement of our complaint.
If you are planning to stay in Nottingham, my very strong advice would be to avoid The Lace Market Hotel at all costs; we shall certainly not be returning.
The location
We were in the Hide Out. I expected it to be bigger and whilst quiet there was a member of staff having a break early in the morning sitting outside our window.
Great location and great staff
Air conditioning not working, room was tiny, could have got better elsewhere for less money
Hotel was conveniently located. The 3 rooms I had booked were near each other (as requested). Was clean. Bed was comfortable. Freshened daily. I had booked "cosy" rooms and whilst they weren't large they were plenty big enough for what we needed.
The excellent deal with the Stoney Street NCP - I just wish this was explained in advance of the stay (see below).
1. One of the rooms was soooo hot I could barely sleep, there was a small air-conditioning unit in the hottest room but (i) it was extremely noisy, and (ii) it turned itself off after every 40mins so I had to keep getting up during the night to turn it back on again.
2. The wifi did not work in one of the rooms so I felt disconnected from the rest of the party.
3. The website suggested the Lace Market Car Park which has very bad reviews so I parked some way away, only to discover the hotel has an excellent deal with Stoney Street Car Park - I wish I had known this before I stayed.
