Noise from room next door at 3am in the morning till 5am consistently
Too many council room persons running around making noise and hanging around the facility
Breakfast included
There were many asylum seekers/refugee families staying there. I did not see any mention of this in hotel description. Would it have affected my decision whether to stay there...to be honest probably yes. Contact was minimum, mostly at breakfast time & having to walk through smoking area at the main entrance. It was obvious kids were well cared for & had school places allocated. On this occasion did it have a huge impact on my stay...not really but as already mentioned it would have been nice to know in advance. Would I stay there again? I would have to say no. There are plenty of other budget hotels around.
Clean
friendly helpful staff
Quiet
Car park
Toby carvery next door
No double bed
And for 2 nights costing £230 from Sunday -Tuesday is pricey for 2 days
8 rooms for the public and the rest is owned by the council but the public are paying full for their rooms
I didn’t have breakfast as I like quiet
And it’s overwhelming a little in morning
With the holiday inn you know what you get and its very basic but everything is ok. The staff as always very friendly and the room is the simple holiday inn standard.
What to start:
1) On arrival, I found the main entrance locked with no prior notice or signage to explain the situation. A staff member eventually opened the door, citing safety concerns as the reason for the restricted access. While I understand that security measures can be necessary, the lack of communication ahead of check-in created an unwelcoming and inconvenient first impression.
2) The hallways and communal spaces were being used as informal gathering areas by other guests throughout my stay. This significantly reduced the ease of moving through the property and made the corridors feel congested and difficult to navigate, which is not the experience you expect when arriving tired from a long journey.
3) Noise was a persistent and significant issue throughout my stay. The corridors were frequently busy with activity, and surrounding rooms generated considerable noise including loud conversations, television at high volume, and general disturbance that continued well into the early hours of the morning, approximately 3AM. For a guest requiring rest after a long-haul flight, this was genuinely disruptive and meant I was unable to get the sleep I needed before continuing my travels.
4) Leaving the hotel in the morning also proved to be more chaotic than expected, with the lobby and surrounding areas noticeably busy.
5) This hotel does not lend itself well to short-stay transit guests or business travelers. The environment is better suited to longer-term residential use, and those looking for a quiet, focused, and restful stopover should look elsewhere. I would recommend the hotel be clearer in its marketing about the nature of its current occupancy so that guests traveling for business or rest can make a more informed booking decision.
Breakfast was excellent.
Clean, comfortable, within our price range. Efficient, friendly staff.
The staff here can't do enough to help you they are amazing if you don't have it or have an issue ask and they climb over themselves to go get you it
Was clean comfortable and very friendly
Room is perfect and good value for money, bed was extremely comfortable and both areas (bathroom as well) were spotlessly clean. Our experience with both Tom on reception and Natasha in the morning for breakfast were fantastic. Both were friendly and helpful and Natasha’s humour when she spoke to us was amazing. She even took some good photos of me and my friends before we left to attend our event. The room was very spacious too! Thank you for making our stay so pleasant. A lot of people have complained about non-paying guests, however they’re kept in a separate area to paying ones in the hotel and we had no issue with them whatsoever, they were just like anybody else there.
A group of 9 friends stopped in this hotel for 3 nights whilst attending mint festival. Location was great for where we needed to go. The atmosphere was fine, we had no issues. Breakfast wasn’t the best but it was no bother. Natalie (I think this was her name) was amazing! Such a lovely person and really made my friends and I feel welcome. The man (Thomas?) at the desk was also very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were decent sizes and clean. When my partner went down for a hot chocolate, the machines were turned off. However, Natalie said she would turn them back on just for him, and bring him a cup to his room. Overall, our stay was very good and I am pleased with how it went!
Close by for what I needed
There was a dog barking most of the night and ifelt a bit intimidated by all the guest's that the council had placed there
Location for where we needed to visit
The cleanliness, the homeless people living there. The constant smell of drugs outside
Everything that I scored points for
Nothing
I choose here as my daughter was at the hospital nearby. Looked OK, the room was a little dated but had everything you needed The tea tray had yorkshire tea always a priority for me, pillows were good. The room was very cold when I arrived but it had a panel heater which I could control and didn't take long to heat up. Everything was clean and the bathroom had nice hand wash shower gel and shampoo branded. Slept OK
Breakfast had all the usual buffet items. The tomatoes had way too much pepper so couldn't eat t them everything else OK.
Was easy to check in and easy to check out.
On the corridoor we were on., The rooms before our rooms seemed to be for council tenants? There were piles of dirty towels and laundry outside the room doors, along with bags of rubbish. This wasn't a welcoming sight. The dirty laundry was not in bags it was just piled high out side the doors
Clean comfortable room, really lovely staff, good breakfast, nice having the carvery just next door for dinner
Was good to be on the ground floor but we had a family room above us and the children were still banging about playing in the early hours, not the hotels fault but maybe put the family rooms on the ground floor
The hotel is a typical IHG Express. Staff were kind and friendly and the room although quite small was fine for the night.
We had almost no sleep for the entire night due to an internal door banging and keeping us both awake.
We were also supposed to be charge for our stay upon arrival but we had already had the money taken from the card on file before we arrived. Not great.
